I'll probably DVR this and watch the O's game. Either way I can't wait. There will never be another group of players assembled like this. Just incredible.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Basically Jordan hated him and said "it's him or me" and, well, you take MJ.

I think the 2008 version of the Dream vs the original would be quite the match-up if a time machine were to be invented.

The 2012 team could have been even a better match for the original if it weren't for the injuries to Rose and especially Howard. I'm guessing Wade will be out too.

Yea, the 2008 team may keep the game within 20.

It'd be closer than that imo.

People tend to look at those guys and think of them at or near their best. However, Bird was basically done and barely played in the Olympics, Magic was retired, and Robinson wasn't quite at the peak of his play.

Magic was still very good. Yes, Bird was close to done but didn't matter. The talent, will to win and defense was crazy good on that team.

I'd think any of the the Dream Teams could beat each other, but I would expect '92 to be favored vs. any one of them. '96 was very good as well.

1992
Laettner
Robinson
Ewing
Bird
Pippen
Jordan
Drexler
Malone
Stockton
Mullin
Barkley
Johnson

1996
Barkley
P.Hardaway
Hill
Olajuwon
Malone
Miller
O'Neal
Payton
Pippen
Richmond
Robinson
Stockton

2000
Abdur-Rahim
Allen
Baker
Carter
Garnett
T Hardaway
Houston
Kidd
McDyess
Mourning
Payton
S. Smith

2004
Anthony
Boozer
Duncan
Iverson
James
R. Jefferson
Marbury
Marion
Odom
Okafor
Stoudemire
Wade

2008
Boozer
Kidd
James
D. Williams
Redd
Wade
Byrant
Howard
Bosh
Paul
Prince
Anthony

And it was really good on the last team. The '92 team would have a depth advantage, though, as the '08 team had some not so great players after the top 8 or so.

If it weren't for injuries, the '12 team would be right up there with the '92 team imo.

PG: Paul, Rose, Westbrook
SG: Bryant, Wade
F: James, Durant, Love, Bosh
C: Howard

Add two of Williams, Anthony, Chandler, Griffin, Harden

The PG's would run wild unless MJ or Pippen was put on them, which would cause another mismatch.

MJ is a clear advantage over Kobe/Wade, but they can compete with him. The backup C is another edge for the Dream Team. The bench advantage overall no longer would be with them, though, like it is over the '08 team.

That bit with Stockton in the crowd with the camera was hilarious.

I just watched the Documentary, so funny how they somewhat shunned Laettner..Even more amazing looking back that they chose him instead of Shaq.

Anyway, great stuff, I can't even imagine how great those practices were..I'd have loved to have seen some of the Jordan/Drexler stuff I've read about, which pretty much ruined Clyde mentally supposedly. Really enjoyed it.

Of course they shunned Laettner.

But he was clearly the better choice over Shaq.

Laettner is probably the best college player ever, but Shaq was the consensus best player in the NBA draft.

So, if they were going for potential, they probably would have taken Shaq but for noteriety they took Laettner.

Laettner will end up the only Dream Teamer not in the Hall of Fame. I'm just saying in terms of what ended up being their full body of work, it seems silly now.

Neither one of them belonged, should have just taken another pro, even if it was not Thomas.

While Laettner had one of the greatest College careers ever, I don't think that makes him 'clearly the better choice' over Shaq. Orlando took Shaq, and Charlotte took Mourning ahead of Laettner with reason. If you wanted to have a college player on the team, they should have taken a guy who was still going to be in college.

Coach K was on the staff. I'm sure that helped.

Of course, I'm not taking anything away from Laettner's career at Duke...He blatantly stepped on players better than anyone in history.
