Also, heard a weird rumor that the Lakers and Wizards discussed Gasol for the #3 pick. Not sure why either side would do that unless there is someone the Lakers secretly love there and are willing to take back some salary from the Wiz.
Probably nothing, though.

Well the Wiz would have to send a decent amount of salary to the Lakers to make that work. Okafor and the pick for Gasol would work.

BTW... do not do a Okafor and #3 for Gasol. I'm convinced Pao would sulk and underachieve in Washington. It wouldn't be as bad as the Miller, Foye trade for #5 a few years back but it's not the right move either.
A. Okafor is a solid, hard nosed player
B. There is too much potential in whoever wewould get at #3 whether it's Beal, MKG, Robinson, or Barnes.

Jeff Goodman tweeted that Charlotte (#2 pick) might take Thomas Robinson if they hold onto the pick.
I think there's a good chance that's who they want. I think the smart move for them would be to act like they've fallen in love with Beal and try to get the Wiz nervous. I think it's pretty obvious Beal makes the most sense for the Wizards and as was mentioned above, they showed their hand a bit when they dealt for Okafor and Ariza.
I'm very excited for tomorrow. Draft day is always exciting to me, but it's especially exciting when you have a draft this strong.

If Charlotte trades the pick the Wizards need to have a trade set to move down a few spots.

Bobcats trade for Ben Gordon. This probably means they pass on Beal. Now they either use the pick or trade it to Cleveland.

That would be awesome if someone at #4 or #5 wants to move up to #3. IMO, they have to get MGK, Robinson, or Barnes.

Well their #1 target should be Beal because he fills an obvious hole. If Beal goes at 2 for the Charlotte pick I'd like to see them draft MKG. The Wizards are trying to change their culture and MKG fits that persona perfectly.
Pass on Barnes. Very talented but he's a knucklehead. The Wizards have had plenty of those. As for Robinson, I'd endorse drafting him if the Wizards hadn't just added Okafor and Nene.

Continuing to improve their draft assets, the Houston Rockets have traded the No. 14 pick and Samuel Dalembert to the Milwaukee Bucks for the 12th selection, Shaun Livingston, Jon Leuer and Jon Brockman, a league source told ESPN NBA Insider Chad Ford on Wednesday.
The Rockets already had acquired the No. 18 pick from the Minnesota Timberwolves for Chase Budinger and the draft rights to Lior Eliyahu.
Sources have told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the Rockets are hoping to acquire enough assets to entice the Magic to trade Dwight Howard to them.

Beal told ESPN/ESPN.com Wednesday that Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti told him during an interview in Chicago that he was interested in trying to move up to draft him. The Thunder's first-round pick currently isn't until No. 28.
"He told me he was going to decide what they're going to do and considered getting up there," said Beal.

I highly doubt this would happen, but they would almost definitely have to deal Harden. If you're the Wiz would you be interested in something like that? Would OKC really have the stones to move Harden?

Seems like the Cavs pick has been pretty maligned by Cavs fans and media types alike.

Loved the Blazers' draft. They got the PG I really wanted, an athletic big, and I think they got a steal in Will Barton at #40....and it's always nice to have another B'more native out here.
Barton could be a perfect fit for the Blazers.
I thought the Wizards should have considered him, Kim English, And Draymond Green, instead they took a guy who they do not have to sign. Smart Move.

I see a lot of solid rotation guys drafted early, MKG, Beal, Waiters, and Robinson, though I don't see any of them being stars. Everybody seems to love Robinson, so maybe I'm missing something. We'll see. I did love Waiters in college, but #4 pick? Wow.
I think Davis & Barnes will be multiple time All Stars. The more I look at where Barnes got drafted, the more perfect I think his situation is. Three guys running up and down with HB, Curry, and Klay Thompson, and they all can shoot. He could average 15-20 right away.
One more thing,I think ALL of these kids handled themselves so well on draft night..It seems like the guys coming into the league are good kids, and I was so impressed with the way they all acted with each other, the media...etc.
The "thug" image, which was blown out of proportion years ago, is literally gone. The league has never been stronger.
Classy superstars like Durant are the norm nowadays, not the exception.

I also like Robinson a lot. I think he's the most complete, most NBA-ready player in the draft, and I think he's got the best chance of being an immediate contributor. I was also shocked to see Waiters go so high, and I think that will end up being a mistake.

I think it's not the best situation for Barnes because who's getting him the ball? Curry is their PG, and he's not exactly a pass-first type of guy. Barnes isn't great creating his own shot. He needs someone to get him the ball, and Curry isn't the guy I'd choose for him.
Davis (and to an even greater extent, Henson) really needs to bulk up to be able to bang with the big NBA bodies. Until then, he's a stud defensive player and that's about it. He won't be an all-star until he has an offensive game to go with the shot-blocking, and I think that will require some serious muscle.[/quote]
