"The NFL should add a new statistic. : "Receiver Error" where the receiver will be charged with an error if he is the reason a pass is intercepted"

Let's assume that this rule goes into place and it works and suddenly a quarterback isn't dinged for something that wasn't his fault.

The only fair thing to do is to also take away every yard after catch from his positive stats. If he's not responsible for the drop, he's not responsible for the YAC.

Right now a bubble screen to a receiver who runs 90 yards is a 90 yard increase to a QB's yardage stat, which is mostly ridiculous.

The only QB stat more ridiculous is that taking a knee at the end of a game goes down as a rush of -1 yard.

That would have huge fantasy impacts.

Considering how easily data is collected these days, it shouldn't be that difficult. It would likely mean the basic stats would paint a more accurate picture of an individual player's performance.

On the flip side, how do you apply it to the historical statistics? Or do you? While football isn't like baseball, the evolution of the game and its rules makes it much more difficult to compare players from different generations, this could have an impact on how numbers are measured for things like HOF voting.
