1) I wish they would give Wright a chance to make the pen. Unless Duq is going to make a deal for a young power arm, the idea of adding another vet reliever that could cost a few million bucks doesn't make much sense to me if Wright is ready.

2) Be interesting to see how much time Walker sees in the majors this year. I liked the pick when we made it and I think he can be a good player. He probably won't be an AS but instead of pouring 100+M into first base, a position so many teams tend to spend that kind of money at, hand the job to Walker if you feel he can handle it after seeing him more in 2015.

3) Whether you agree with Drake being on this list or not, it's awful that he is even in the conversation.

A few drafts ago, we talked about how they seemed to be drafting guys that were destined for the pen. That seemed to be a focus. I think the time is coming when we start to see those guys at this level over the next year or so.

I would have put Alvarez on the list over Drake btw.

Yeah it was kinda my point in the paragraph later that really, they are all so lumped together you can make arguments for 10 guys on or off almost.

Drake for me is a ML RP, no question, good power combo. Alvarez is far from a lock for me to be a ML OF even as a backup, so that was kind of the rationale, for those fringe guys, it was in order of chance of being a solid ML contributor.

You know I agree with you on Wright too, but the more I'm hearing about Garcia, the more I'm intrigued. He's that kind of power arm you love, and he's got a good 2 pitch combo too, if he can fine tune that slider a little bit he could be lights out back there.

I mean really, completely subjective list, just something fun for now. I'm hoping to have something more substantial to say about some of these guys after I get to see them a couple times this season.

I understand that we are team in position to contend and it's tough to hand bullpen jobs to guys who are unknowns but I, really hoping that in the coming years, we stop paying so much to these MR and promote these guys...of course, those players have to prove they are ready.

I will have an article up on the pen in the next 24 hours and while I like the depth, I'm still worried about some of the main guys.

I hope that some of the guys mentioned on this list will be ready to help us.

Completely agree. I think that Berry will do a good job as a LOOGY if we are going to keep one of those, he's brutal against LHB, but gets hit around pretty good by righties. As well as Buck uses his pen, I think he'd do well right away.

Plenty of RHP options in that mix, but Wright I've lobbied for for a couple years now,, Garcia I'm interested to see what he can do in the spring, but from what I'm hearing about him, I think I'm good with keeping him around and see how his season goes. There are enough 2 pitch guys in that mix that we could clear out some serious salary and not take too much of a hit, as long as we spaced out the moves.

I can't think of another player I'm more excited to see than Garcia. I'm really hoping he has a good spring.

Garcia's stats didn't wow you in the minors...big jump to be in the majors.

But...power arm.

I don't agree with the order but you can at least make the argument for everyone on the list being top ten except for Drake.   We're talking about a guy who had a nice year in AA at age 27-28.   Even in AA, despite nice strikeout numbers, he didn't dominate.      I might not even have Drake in a top 20.    If Tyler Wilson had been put in the bullpen and in AA last year,  I bet he would have had dominant numbers.     I realize that after our top 5 or so that you can make a case for a lot of guys but Drake should be downgraded over the others for the following reaons.

1. No chance to be a starter.

2. Is already 28 and hasn't succeeded above AA

3. No one else has him in their top 10

4. We have a lot of other RHP's who profile the same and are much younger  (Wright/Wilson/Hess/Keller/Bridwell/Kline)

Why you picked Drake is a mystery to me.

Pat Connaughten probably makes my top 10.

I think he is a guy to watch.

I'm glad someone else is giving Walker some love.  I believe he will be a big contributor in 2016 and going forward.

The potential is there.

I don't even care if he doesn't have big power. If he can give us a 450-475 slugging, that will keep pitchers honest.

It's an interesting list. It's nice to see something different than what others write.

A team playing in Camden Yards needs a LOOGY. I would have him penciled in for that role next year.

Figure the pen looks like this next year? Britton (closer), Brach (ROOGY), Garcia (7th inning), McFarland (Long Man), Berry (LOOGY), Wright (7th inning), Veteran Set-Up (8th inning).

Yeah I like your list, that's about what I have been picturing too. Something with flexibility.

You can make a case for Connaughton's upside being in the top ten of Orioles prospects but I don't think you can make a case for him being a top ten prospect right now.

To be fair, this is my personal current top ten

 1. Dylan Bundy
 2. Hunter Harvey
 3. Chance Sisco
 4. Jomar Reyes
 5. Christian Walker
 6. Dariel Alvarez
 7. Zach Davies
 8. Mike Wright
 9. Brian Gonzalez
10. Jason Garcia

Yea, he would be in my top ten strictly because of his upside.

Many of the guys on these lists are very likely headed to the pen already. We don't know that about Connaughten yet and some seem to like him as a potential mid rotation guy.

Since we don't know his role yet and he seems to be an intriguing college arm, I put him in my list.
