Right now, the team has 2 real OFers in Chavez and Jones....They are bringing up Hall and both him and Flaherty will see OF time.

They have a 12 man staff right now, with 8 of them being in the pen. Britton could come up for the Boston series. Its to be seen if they will go with a 3 man bench or 13 man staff when that happens but if I had to guess, they will go with the 13 man staff although maybe the Nick injury will knock some sense into them.

Jim Johnson has thrown 1.2 IP in the last 12 days.
Gregg has thrown 2 innings in the last 13 days.
Ayala has thrown 2.2 innings in the last 12 days.
Patton has thrown 3.2 innings in the last 13 days.
Strop has thrown 3 innings in the last 12 days.

To me, you can go with a 4 man rotation right now since we don't need a 5th starter until June 16 and then you have a 7 man pen, where most of them are fully rested.

On top of that, you have a few off days coming up as well, so your pen should be in good shape.

Right now, I think its just best to let Britton get another start or 2 in the minors(he did only throw 60% of his pitches for strikes last night and they are working with his mechanics, so an extra start or 2 won't hurt him) and go with the 5 man bench for the time being. With Chavez nothing more than a defensive replacement/pinch runner, we really need someone who can potentially hit the ball, like Ford is showing.

If Buck wants Avery to stay down to work on things, fine...But bring up Ford AND Hall and send down Gonzalez or Eveland for the time being.

Could be wrong but isn't Eveland out of options?

Im not sure and to be honest, I don't really care all that much.

But then send down Gonzalez.

Yeah, I wouldn't go with a 13 man staff and 3 man bench. Both Gonzalez and Eveland can go multiple innings, as can Patton for that matter if necessary. Send 1 of Eveland/GOnzalez packing.

Sadly I think with Nick's injury we are in for more Betemit in the OF. Yuck. And I know I keep harping on it but what a very bad job DD/Buck have done having 4 primary DH's on the team. I mean I know they each can hit a little bit but it's rather inexcusable. At this point I'm honestly ready to see if Miggy can give us anything at 3b. Go ahead and DFA Johnson. It's not like Buck is using him as much as he probably should be anyway.

Yea I agree. I like Johnson but he just doesn't make sense with the way the roster is set up. The roster management is really bad.

I wasn't freaking out when we lost Antonelli - I figured there was some reason for not putting BRob on the 60-day DL - like having him in the clubhouse was adding real value, or something along those lines. Anywho, now that we've moved BRob to the 60 for Bill Hall, it's a real head scratcher. I don't get it.
