Yikes.
Well, he throws strikes and doesn't walk guys according to his limited time in Norfolk.

Lopez has got hit around a bit his last two outings. And the Twins offense is horrible. Don't think we're underdogs today despite the lopsided SP matchup.

At least Lopez is RH, so no reason to have our weakest links in the lineup today.
Well, Holliday is playing.

Well, Holliday is playing.
Really no difference between him and Urias right now, and Holliday needs the ABs to get himself on track, so much prefer to see him.

Oh, I agree, and I was just joking anyway... but for now Holliday's clearly the worst player on the team, both offensively and defensively.

OK, as long as he isn't a batting practice pitcher for Minnesota today...

I know its just one start.
I know its just the Twinkies.
But is this really the best guy we have to start today?

Him or Zimmerman were the main choices. Or straight bullpen game, which this will basically be anyways.I know its just one start.

Yeah you can't just pick your best guy. The problem is it was on such short notice and you need someone with sufficient rest. And someone either on the 40 man or that you don't mind DFAing tomorrow.
I'd guess more than anything this shows they don't think much of Zimmermann, who is on the 40 man and pitched on the 11th.

Would've been a nice day for Jordan Montgomery's first start...

This just it typical of the overall issue I have with baseball.
You have a guy in Bruce Zimmerman who is on the 40 man roster.
He's left handed.
He's on 6 days rest.
He's 29 years old for crying out loud.
Its against one of the weakest hitting teams in baseball.
A matchup that seems to fit about as good as it can get yet he's not in there.
Fine, then what the heck is he even in the organization for?

You're getting kind of worked up over something that just boils down to whether Zimmerman is the 8th or the 9th best starting pitcher on the roster.

Zimm will be gone soon enough but you dont add guys like McDermott and Povich to the 40 man until you are calling them up. So.eone has to take the 40 man spot. This just it typical of the overall issue I have with baseball.
