Be patient at the plate tonight. This guy allows close to half a walk an inning. Make him work then light him up.....we might...no ....will need that. LOL

I was wondering today how many players down through the years homered in their first major league at bat. Can't be too many. I vaguely remember Bert Campenaris being one of them back in the prehistoric days.

Thanks for posting that! its one of those things that your gut says ,man just can't be that many, but in reality its a longer list than you'd think!

I appreciate you looking that up. Can't believe there were that many. Quite a few of them in the 2000's and then as you go back to before the 1970's, they're a lot more rare.

It looks like the last Orioles to do it was Luis Montanez in 2008. I barely remember this guy played MLB, much less for the Orioles.

Will Clark jumps to mind

I was a little surprised they didn't let him make his debut on Friday at home.
Maybe the thinking was that doing it on the road would be less of a circus?
Or maybe they're looking at the Yankees and thinking, 'we don't have a moment to spare'

You don't remember when he was the MVP of AA ad a 26 y/o in like 2008 and a bunch of people were trying to make that mean he finally figured it all out? He was a former #3 overall pick I think. Not too many Orioles have done it. (I counted two, but I could have missed somebody)

Had to be today for the possible draft pick.

Had to be today for the possible draft pick.
As in, if he wins ROY?
Interesting tradeoff - draft pick versus another year of service time

For anyone out of the O's market and you don't have an MLBTV subscription, this is the Free Game of the Day, so no sub necessary to watch.
