Wrote about three players who debuted before Elias/Hyde, endured the tank years but now might also be facing uncertain futures in the next few years

You would hope Elias could extend at least 1 of them if he wanted to do so. He probably cant though. Without getting into too much thought on all of this I think trading 1, extending one, and letting one play out and walk feels about right. Hays would be in the trade/let walk pile. The other two I'd have all 3 options available though Ceds ability to play a legit CF and no apparent replacement ready in the minors makes me far less likely to have trade as an option for him the next 2 years. Bradfield almost surely isnt going to be ready by OD '25.

Hays has a run through walls vibe that Kevin Kiermeier (sp) possesses, and frankly they get nicked up because of it.

I'd definitely sell high on him if the return is right.

Not sure how I feel about extending Santander. I definitely want to extend Cedric.

Ceds '23 concerns me a bit as far as an extension. Its not hard for me to see steep decline by his FA years

Hopefully we get out of the Playoffs early so we can get a slightly better draft pick and then really begin discussion how to get rid of the players that just won 101 games because nothing will be better than getting Colton Cowser into the game every day next year.

A groin / adductor tear/strain is going to hamper a guy whose main asset is his wheels / range. Still, he showed off a lot of that range when he came back.

Yeah, he wasn't running out ground balls so much, but it is what it is.

Reductio ad absurdum.

Injuries and speed only part of the concern. Also the offensive production. Again, talking more about his FA years vs the next 2. I wouldnt be betting on him going forward from his 31 yr old season on.

I'm not in a rush to extend him either. I will love rooting for him the next two years. Not sure how he will be in 2026 and especially in like 2028.

I would only give him like 1 extra year past his last arb year.  After that I want to see where Bradfield is.

With how fast our farm is churning out prospects it'd be silly to extend him at age 32.

So I guess Ive kinda backed myself into extending Santander if I stick to my trade one, extend one, let one walk idea. I do like Santanders bat the most going forward into his FA years. He should/will be a 1b/DH but the bat should be solid into his early 30s. Love that he is a switchy. Its such an advantage if you can truly be a threat from both sides like Rutsch and Santander are

Yeah I'm talking about extending him now a couple years past '25.

Hope everyone enjoys the stats about Cedric's 2021 relative to team performance, used Stathead from B-Ref for those

Feels kind of like a good thing that the three guys with the longest track record are the three guys disappointing the most this season? They should all turn it around to some degree.  Cowser has already replaced Hays.  I don't know if we have a defender who can replace Mullins.  I wouldn't consider replacing Santander, although his position is the one with the most interesting candidates waiting for a chance.

Mountcsatle has been plummeting as well.

Mateo with a higher OPS than all these guys in late May would not have been a prediction I'd have been comfortable making preseason.

Mullins savant page is brutal and has been since his fluke 2021 season. Pretty good chance his days as an offensive asset are done.

Fluke is rough over 600 PAs but we all knew he wouldn’t repeat it.

IMO within the context of a career, an outlier season is fair game to be called a fluke.

The problem with Mullins is that if his hitting is really this bad then his defense and base running have to be almost impeccable to make up for a sub Mendoza line.

When you are in a funk like he is you'd think they would be extra mindful of the game situations and what they need to do to help the team. That base running error yesterday was a monumental mistake.

Isn't there some expression about taking your slumping bat onto the field with you. That your slump begins to affect your fielding.

Good news! I saw a dog today.
