Those of us that said we wouldn't take 2 out of 3 upfront are playing with house money today!
But could the offense please show up before the 10th inning......lol

Like most of the A's pitchers, Spears stinks and there's no reason the Orioles offense can't take him out before 5 innings. Hopefully, Bradish brings his usual, quality stuff, limits Oakland to a couple of runs, goes 7 and they leave with a sweep. Get it done.

They couldn't do much with a lousy pitcher last night and that's unacceptable but what they had going for them was the pitiful A's offense and Irvin throwing a solid 5 innings.

I actually like Sears and its between him and Blackburn for their best SP but that doesn't I don't think we shouldn't be able to get to him pretty good.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Yeah, I guess by A's standards, Sears is not that bad but still hittable. He's pitched worse at home so hopefully, that bodes well for the Orioles bats.

I was one of those that said we needed this sweep so the pressure is still on. Go 6-3 on the road trip and come home with a solid hold of the 1 seed. A 5 game lead in the loss column heading into September would be nice. I believe in striking while the coals are hot so I'm shooting for the stars.

What's kind of funny is SD loses both ends of the DH yesterday to AZ. We wonder how they have the same run differential as us but a terrible record, look good against us, then shit the bed in the next series. Baseball.
Show up.

Looking at the run differential the 2 teams that stand out the most are the O's and the Padres. Texas and Tampa are 100 runs better than us but yet our record is a lot better. On the other hand the Padres have the same run differential as us and are way below .500. In fact the Padres are the only team with a positive run differential and a losing record. Those 2 don't make a lot of sense but it's played out that way.

Hays has been scuffling the 2nd half. Has had a solid series against Oak tho.
July was a ridiculous disaster (sub .500 OPS).
Has an .810 OPS in August though.
Maybe he'll finish on a high.

Here's an interesting stat- in games they've won, their OBP is .347. In losses, it's .269. It tells me that when they're not being selective and are channeling their inner Mateo, things become a lot harder offensively. Granted, tougher pitching will dictate some of that but I'd like to see them be more consistently patient at the plate as we head towards the post season. Gunnar has drawn only 3 walks this month and maybe he's become too much of a free swinger.

Should have been more...but early lead 1-0.

I, for one, am good with Gunnar being a free swinger.
Can't argue with the results I guess but I'd still like to see him draw more walks and hit for a higher average. But I know that's asking a lot in today's game.
