The Coyotes Were Damned Close To Moving To Seattle

Basically, if their lease vote hadn't gone through, they were ready to pull a Colts. There was a sales agreement in place and there were literally moving vans on standby. Here is the Seattle Times article:

Oh, and the vote is being investigated for illegal dealings around it.

So there's been a mumps outbreak working it's way through the NHL.

NHL announces 2016 Winter Classic, Stadium Series

The National Hockey League set its outdoor calendar for the 2015-16 season during a press conference Saturday afternoon at Nationwide Arena.

The Boston Bruins will host the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1, playing the rival Montreal Canadiens at Gillette Sadium in Foxborough, Mass. Gillette Stadium is 68,756-seat home of the New England Patriots of the National Football League.

There will also be two 2016 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series Games during the 2015-16 season with the Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche playing hosts in the course of six days in late February.

On Feb. 21, the Wild will host the Chicago Blackhawks at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus. On Feb. 27, the Colorado Avalanche will host to the Detroit Red Wings at Coors Field, the home of the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball.

I didn't watch it, but is the NHL All-Star game the worst among the major sports leagues when it comes to how much these exhibitions fail to resemble an actual game? I mean, a 17-12 hockey game sounds a little exciting, and maybe more so if the score were a little closer. But really, 29 goals in one game? Really?

Yeah I don't even watch it. The skills stuff is fun but the game is a joke.

The intentional lack of defense was just gross. It was like a dad letting his 4 year old score to give him some confidence. Seriously, look at the replays. It was laughable. At least play D. I get not hitting or checking though. And agree with Jeremy... the skills comp is very good in the NHL.

ESPN: Most common no-trade destinations

It's an Insider post, but according to Deadspin, it's Edmonton and Winnipeg at one and two, Buffalo* number three, and Ottawa and Toronto four and five.

Less shootouts on the horizon!  The NHL will implement 3 on 3 overtime Hockey as soon as next season.  This is definitely a good thing,  I much rather watch 3 on 3 then see a game be decided by a skills gimmick.

About time. 3 on 3 hockey has worked well for the AHL. I'm upset that we'll never get to see Green Backstrom and Ovi together for 3 on 3 hockey though.
