I most likely won't be posting much over the next 3 weeks because I'm heading to CA on Thursday!

Going to be the best man in a friend's wedding, which takes place outside of Yosemite, but I'm heading out early for the bachelor party and to spend some time with friends in Orange County and to hit up some great spots like the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, various restaurants, and hopefully a visit to a brewery/brewpub or two.

Then after the wedding, I'll be hiking in Yosemite for a few days, which is one of my favorite places. Then some more highlights in the bay area:

- Russian River Brewpub (amazing beer!)
- Marin County Brewing Co Brewpub
- Hiking in Point Reyes National Seashore and Muir Woods (Redwood forest)
- California Academy of Sciences in SF
- Drive down Pacific Coast Highway to Monterey
- The world class Monterey Bay Aquarium
- Kayaking in the Monterey Bay
- Oakland Zoo

Can't wait!

Have you been back to Cali since moving back east?

Enjoy it. I've only been to San Diego and LA... but loved San Diego. I enjoyed bar hopping in Old Town San Diego... good times.

Just once. Last January. It's been far too long!

Yeah, SD >>>> LA imo.

As a beer lover, there aren't many cities better than SD.

And as an animal lover, it's the best city for captive animals in the country, possibly the world.

Plus, it's just a great atmosphere. It's kind of like a more laid back version of the better parts of Baltimore and Philly, but with much better weather, landscape, and the beach.

Nope. Tickets are very expensive and without good seats, I'd rather just watch at a friend's place or a bar.

Yeah, I hear ya on the Lakers tickets, they're insane.

Also, not really my scene, but the strip clubs in S.D. are just in a league of their own. I took my younger brother as a birthday present and frankly, we were all in heaven. Again, not something I do much of, but wow.

Of course this would surprise no one who has been there seeing to how San Diego has sooooo many beautiful women all over the place. Insane.

I like the prefaces. ;) I'll be going to a strip club in Anaheim that's good for the bachelor party. Never been to one in SD. Vegas is great for strip clubs.

Haha, yeah. I've never been to Vegas, so that's definitely on the short "to-do" list. A friend is probably getting married there in October, so if that happens i'll be there. I'll have to remember your suggestion. ;)

I am definitely an East Coast guy but I lived Cali the two times I was there visiting LA and SF.

Both awesome cities and SF reminded me a lot of Baltimore.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I love Baltimore, but in no way does San Francisco remind me what so ever of Baltimore. Sorry I just had to laugh I've never heard that comparison before.

Best friend lived in San Diego for about a year. I visted out there for week. Awesome city. I consider myself an East Coast guy but it's one place I would not think twice about living.

I also consider myself an east coast guy as well, but wouldn't mind so much living in San Diego, just would need to purchase one of those MLB packages so I could continue watching the O's.

I did.

I had a great time in Orange County seeing my friends, hitting up some favorite restaurants, going to some zoos, and visiting the amazing Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens.

Then there was the wedding outside of Yosemite and then a few days in one of my favorite places. Hiked the Panorama Trail, which I'd highly recommend to anyone who enjoys hiking. I was also lucky enough to see a coyote and 3 bears, including one while I was hiking that came within 30 feet of me!

Then there was a great NorCal adventure with a girl that included the Russian River and Marin Brewing Company's brew pubs, the California Academy of Sciences, hiking at Point Reyes National Seashore, walking through the Muir Woods, kayaking in the Monterey Bay with sea lions and sea otters swimming around us, visiting the fantastic aquarium there, going to the Oakland Zoo, and having some great food and beer at various places.

Good times to be sure.

Wow.  Just seeing this now (and yes, while drunk) but very nice synopsis.

Stone Brew/Gardens, Panorama Trail, Muir Woods, Monterey Bay are all just simply amazing spots.  The latter much more so than the former.  If I could live in Muir Woods I would.

Lemme get two claps and a Ric Flair

I love Baltimore, but in no way does San Francisco remind me what so ever of Baltimore. Sorry I just had to laugh I've never heard that comparison before.

Both cities on the water, great seafood cuisine, funky, artsy scene...lots of homeless people, very liberal, lots of taxes, etc.

Just a feeling I got.

There were lots of similarities between SF and Lisbon, Portugal too.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?
