Now 4 or 5 episodes in, I feel like this could be shaping up to be an absolutely explosive season of Mad Men. This isn't the type of show that lets major plot arcs come and go in one episode. I have to imagine that Betty and her "health scare" will continue to factor in, as will her deteriorating relationship with Henry and his mother. And Sally...ugh, who can blame her for developing a drug addiction after growing up with Betty and three different kids claiming to be her brother Bobby?! ;)

Pete Campbell...I hated him the first couple seasons, then he became a pretty reasonable, almost likeable character. Now he's back to being a creepy snake. But he will never be the idealized version of Don Draper that he wanted to be (even though he basically has Don's house from the first few seasons and Trudy >>>>>> Betty), and he can't ever satisfy himself at work either. I think Roger is ultimately too composed a person to really self-destruct, even though he will probably never be the real focal point of the company again. So I'm concerned about what Pete may do/become.

Don is too....happy...right now. It's just not Don, not in the office and certainly not out of it. In my head, I liken Don and Pete's relationship to that of McNulty and Bodie in The Wire. Essentially adversaries at first, growing into a healthy respect for each other, and now Don is happy (like McNulty with Beadie), and I feel like Pete is self-destructing. Maybe Pete offs himself and Don is more misanthropic/alcoholic/driven at work than ever in Season 6 with the landscape of advertising and the workplace in general changing around him. That's my working theory, anyway.

Plenty more to discuss...Peggy, Ginsburg, Ken's writing, Dawn, Lane Pryce being a badass, zou bisou bisou, chewing gum in unfortunate places, etc.

Yeah I wonder what is going to send Don back into his old ways.

I feel like it's only a matter of time before Don and Joan are going to hook-up.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Everything about Pete just makes me cringe.

I've really enjoyed this season. I think it's been incredibly funny throughout each episode.

I don't really have a theory as to where the season is going. I don't expect Pete to kill himself, or Sally to develop a drug addiction, though. The show has seemed to stay away from some obvious things that I've thought they were going to do (Joan's husband surviving Vietnam, at least the first tour, was surprising to me, although I suppose she did lose him to Vietnam in a way anyhow) so I think they may do something along the lines of a Pete suicide and Sally addiction, but it won't be in the way many would expect.

It has definitely been more funny than I remember in past seasons. Lots of little chuckles and asides, and not just the somewhat boring "there's a historical event happening that we as the audience know about but they don't know about" schtick. Elisabeth Moss is really doing a fantastic job with Peggy...especially in her interactions with Roger so far this season, she has me laughing just on a facial expression.

"Harry and Don Go to White Castle" slayed me. "You want the last one?" "There were 20!"

"I thought you were getting them for your family!"

Roger has had some absolute zingers this season, gets me laughing every time.

"You're always up to something, aren't you Crane?"

"I know cooler heads should prevail, but am I the only one that wants to see this?"

I'm honestly going to have to rewatch this to figure out WTF just happened. And uhh...that's not even getting into Peggy's issues at the beginning of the episode.

The beginning was actually the end, which they showed at the beginning, then re showed at the end.

Good to see a somewhat different side of Peggy tonight..

My cable cut out at 10:15 on Sunday, so finally got around to watching it On Demand yesterday. Very cool episode. Loved the Roger on LSD part, and how excited he is to be getting a divorce, even if it's gonna split him in half financially again. Hope Don isn't pushing Megan away, but he probably is. Will Cooper's chastising of his recent work ethic improve his work and save his marriage, or improve his work and destroy his marriage?

I don't know what to make of Michael's story to Peggy. He's a pretty interesting character.

And, I'm sure many fans have asked this same question, but now that SCDP isn't still the agency for Lucky Strike, why don't they bring back Sal? Do they just not have the room with Stan there? I hope they end up getting bigger and need multiple art directors and can bring him back. He's always been a favorite of mine, and gotta love the Baltimore roots.

While the fight was obviously great, the best part of the entire thing was Roger's "am I think only one that wants to see this" line. He's been amazing all season, really.

Slattery is just absolutely owning every scene he's in.

It's uncanny, actually. There might not be a better character on TV.

Peggy has probably been the 2nd most important character on the show so her leaving the agency is huge! I wonder how much air time she'll get going forward; I hope she is still at least somewhat featured.

The situation with Joan was certainly interesting. I for one, don't blame her for doing what she did for that type of return.

I really liked how they did that scene going back and forth between Joan with that guy and Don making the pitch.

Ginsberg continues to ascend. I think Don is a bit jealous/threatened by his ability.

Peggy better still be in the show instead of getting the Salvatore treatment.

I thought this was a fantastic episode. I agree that while Joan's behavior did seem out of character a bit, given the desperation of her situation at home, and the massive amount she was getting for doing this (she turned down the $50k which was ~4 times her salary, and instead got more with the partnership) makes it more understandable. Hell, I might sleep with that guy for 4 years salary.

I found it interesting how what Stan said to Peggy about hiring the guy to replace her when she found Ginsberg's book ends up sort of being true. I know she left on her own terms, but a big chunk of the new work was being done by Ginsberg.
