Auburn's football program changed players' grades to secure eligibility, offered money to potential NFL draft picks to return for their senior seasons and violated NCAA recruiting rules under former coach Gene Chizik, according to a report by former New York Times and Sports Illustrated writer Selena Roberts.

The report appears on Roberts' website, Roopstigo.com. According to three former Auburn players, as many as nine players' grades were changed before Auburn's win in the 2011 BCS national championship game.

"We thought we would be without (running back) Mike Dyer because he said he was one of them, but Auburn found a way to make those dudes eligible," former Auburn defensive lineman Mike Blanc told Roberts.

Holy crap.  This could be really bad.

Something a bit fishy with a lot of the reporting as well.  Players recanting quotes and sounds like the main source is about to go to jail.

On the other hand, it seemed like Auburn fired Chizik pretty abruptly after a couple down years following the championship.  Maybe this had something to do with it?  If the claims against Chizik and Muschamp are true, then Muschamp will likely also lose his new job at Florida and both should be slapped with "show cause" clauses to ensure they have nearly no chance of ever coaching in college again.  Stripping the 2011 title and a few years of penalties against Auburn would certainly be coming down as well.

SEC football, baby.  There's a reason why it's the best!

What's the motivation for former players blowing the whistle? Are they paid for this?

The irony here is that if this all comes down the way it appears, Auburn will be stripped from it's actual 2011 title... as to where in 2004, when Auburn went undefeated, but didn't get to play USC in the title game, USC won the championship, and has had to vacate that championship, but it was not re-assigned to Auburn.

Now, they're likely to have two championship seasons ('04 and '11) and nothing to show for it.

I like how the NCAA re-writes history, not saying it's a bad thing. To me, when the games happen, you can put an asterisk on it, but it's hard to tell me it didn't happen even if there's no banners to signify it did.

Wait, Auburn under Chizic was dirty. No WAY!!!!! Just saw the E:60 about synthetic marajuana and how they didn't test for that until after the 2010 seaosn was over. Then some of there players tested positive numerous times without any real consequences.

Listen, we all knew that program was as shady as shady got in '10. What these programs will do to win football games is disgraceful. And yes, it's not just Auburn, hell it's not just the SEC. It's pretty much every big time football conference.
