In mid December, I wrote:

"I like the Freshman Faust a lot, but he has been a different player than I expected. The Scouting reports I saw on Faust pointed to a pretty quality shooter, especially from intermediate range, with mediocre athleticism. He is not a LaRon Profit, Stevie Francis type of athlete; but he has better quicks and hops than advertised. Conversely, his shot has not been as good as I thought he might be. When he works hard on the defensive end, his long-arms cause problems for opposing players.

Of course any evaluation of Faust's early play has to be clearly cognizant of the fact that he has been playing out of position at the 1. The jump to College is a transition for any player. For Faust to have been as relatively productive as he has been, considering he has had to worry about trying to run the offense, is impressive overall.

Through the initial 9 games of his collegiate career, Faust is averaging 7.1 ppg, 3.8 boards, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals. He has had 5 games with at-least 7 points, and 2 games with at-least 13 points.

On the other-hand, Faust is averaging just 29% from the floor, 18.5% from 3 (5 of 27), and 52.5% (21 of 40) from the FT line. Ouch. With Howard coming back to run the offense, hopefully Faust will become a more consistent scorer. At the minimum, his production at the foul line needs to improve drastically. He's made 9 of his last 12 from the charity stripe, so maybe that improvement has begun.

One other thing I want to see Faust do, is use his size to back down smaller defenders. He should be able to get some baskets closer to the hoop."

As we know, Faust was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team.
Now 30 games into his collegiate career, Faust is averaging 8.5 ppg, 4.0 boards, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 steals. He has had 19 games with at-least 7 points, and 12 games in double-figures.

He is shooting 37% from floor, 27% from 3 (21 of 77), and 63% (62 of 99) from the FT line. Clearly his shooting has improved as the year has progressed.

What do you think Faust is capable of going forward? With his quicks, good athleticism, and an improving shot; what do you think the future holds for him? After an off-season where he works on his strength, do you think he can average 15 ppg playing solely off the ball next year?

Has a chance to be really good. Would probably be our leading scoring next year if Stoglin leaves and to that point I think Faust at the 2 next year could be a more complete player than Stoglin was this year at the 2. Provided he stays all 4 years, and yes I could see him blowing up enough after his junior year to leave, I would bet on multiple All ACC teams.

I really like what I see out of this guy.

In his last 10 games, he has averaged 12.3 points and that was with an awful game in Clemson where he scored 2 points. He is shooting 46%, including 41% from 3.

He is also averaging just under 5 rebs a game, 2 assts and 1 steal a game.

He is becoming a solid player and should have a big year next year.

As a freshman, you want to see improvement as the year goes on and that is exactly what he has done.

He is averaging too many turnovers though...shouldn't be at PG.

Nope, not a PG. Tough position for the guy. Played it early in HS, but not in his Jr., Sr. years. Howard's injuries have really made MD ask for a lot from him.

Yea...If Stoglin is back and Howard is healthy next year, is Faust a 3? He has the size.

Yeah, he'll get plenty of time at 2G, but he'd start at the 3.
