Seth calling the shot, remember folks you saw it here first.

I'm not a TU fan, but when they get their new Arena, I think they will get enough local recruits to be a factor in the CAA.

Skerry is already stockpiling a good class for next year. They will be one of the top 5 most improved teams in the country. Mark it down.

Grantland: http://www.grantland...lege-basketball

Hits the obvious points we made. Good recruiting area, new arena, strong league in the CAA, recruiting already looking up; Towson should be able to improve rather quickly.

Well, now that the 2011-2012 season is over, Towson basketball is already improved now that Skerry's two transfers, Jerrelle Benimon (Georgetown) and Mike Burwell (USF), have finished their redshirt season. Let's not forget the good recruiting class Skerry brought in for next season that feature four highly rated recruits. After not having and point guards this season, Jerome Hairston (combo guard) and Frank Mason (TRUE point guard) will join the roster.

Although it is foolish to have high hopes, especially after a season with 31 losses and one win, they won't be too terrible. 10-plus wins is within the realm of possibility for next year. Plus if Skerry can bring in a one-year transfer to take the place of big Rob, than they might look formidable. Young, but formidable.

Towson assistant Kenny Johnson takes the same position at Indiana University. It's good to see that Towson coaches starting to get some of the spotlight. Johnson has been instrumental in the Tigers 2012-2013 recruiting class that has brought in guys like Barrrington Alston, Jerome Hairston, Marquis Marshall and Frank Mason. Towson's recruiting ties will not be as strong with out him, but knowing Pat Skerry, he'll find somebody that can do the job.

After a 1-31 season last year, TU men's basketball will have three transfers from the Big East suiting up next season in Jerrelle Benimon (PF-Georgetown), Mike Burwell (SG-USF) and Bilal Dixon (C-Providence). It's obvious that next season's squad will not be as inexperienced as it was last year. In talking with Skerry, he said that even with the acquisition of talented players, many of his players from last year's squad are showing much improvement in spring practices. Is it too early to think that 15+ wins is out of the question for Towson?

How do you project out the likely depth chart 1-5? Are you thinking they can be middle of the pack in the CAA?

I know this doesn't matter to this conversation, but I almost went to Towson for school. I have no idea why I chose Canisius. Basketball team is atrocious although we just hired Jim Baron formerly of Rhode Island.

I'll guess Towson Finished around 18-20 wins and somewhere near the top of the CAA. Total guess though, not too big on CAA basketball outside of VCU and GMU.

I hope it works out for you guys. As an A10 fan, I always thought Jim Baron was horrendous at Rhode Island. But really, the school gave him an incredibly long leash to work with and he should have been fired years ago.

Towson is now 17-13 overall, 12-5 in the CAA.

They've won their last 3 games, going into the regular season final vs. Hofstra (4-13 in the CAA). The Tigers are tied with Delaware for 2nd place, both 2 games behind Northeastern.

Towson is 2-0 vs. Delaware, 0-1 vs. Northeastern.

Towson is:
145th points per game
12th rebounds per game
322nd assists per game
135th field goal %

I meant to bump this thread. What a crazy year, and a hell of a job by Skerry. Just too bad they wont be eligible for either tourney.

That's from problems with Pat Kennedy, right? I'd like another reason to hate him.

Not a Towson fan, but glad to see their success. Always good when we got some good hoops teams in the area.

IT's unfortunate that they're not eligible for the tourney (or their conference tourney), because I think this would be a bigger national story, after the embarrassment of last year.

Fortunately, Benimon is only a Junior, so they should be even better next year.
