Spenser at least got his time in the show.  He made some money with 5 weeks in the majors.  He will be likely be DFA'd in the off season to make room for guys who need to be on the 40, but he had his moments.

Watkins had his moments last year, and it is always good to see a player who hung in for a long time get his shot, and make a little money, but he like just about everyone who was released is not a major league player.

He did what he was brought in to do.... 50 innings of getting absolutely torched as cannon fodder.

The interesting thing is of the 12-15 guys released since the end of the year, the only 2, I think were major league players, were Severino and maybe Hunter Harvey if he could ever stay healthy.  Great job stuffing the 40 man with AAA or lower players.

Pretty crazy how well he and Voth have managed to pitch recently.  Fully expect each guy to struggle every time they go out, but they've been a big part of the good play over the past month or so.  Since Voth was acquired and Watkins returned from the IL, 7 starts for the pair, the O's are 5-2 and they've pitched 35 2/3 IP at a 2.27 ERA.

Ride it while it lasts!

even if he never got to the majors again, at least he could brag, that he was able to do what most boys just dream about.

Keep waiting for the other shoe to drop with Watkins, but he manages to produce with smoke and mirrors.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Voth seems to throw a little harder each time out.

Watkins has some swag. I am becoming a fan of this kid. Wouldn’t at all be opposed to him earning a spot next season. Starting to put together a legit body of work here.

One interesting thing though, a lot of his ratios are fairly in line with last year. Fly balls (although 6% more ground balls), K’s, BB’s… except one, HR/FB - down by more than half. Just makes me wonder how much the wall could be benefiting kids like Watkins, Kremer and maybe even Wells though I think he’s legit regardless of Camden Yards. His FIP is a half run higher than his ERA. Solid contributor at a cheap price.

I’m not giving him away in the off-season just because his name is Spenser Watkins.

He seems to be settling in.  Since he came back from the injured list is been very good,
