I think he has a decent bat, but is currently on a hot streak.  I think if he is going to be a utility type his glove has to be good and for the most part it has been.

I don't think his glove is good enough to play shortstop every day but as a mostly second baseman and backup SS its ok given his solid bat. Could be a solid bench player.

Im good with giving him all the reps at 2b right now. Jones will eventually get time there but his glove must really need some work. Also noticed hes been playing some OF again in AAA.

Tells you how much Ive been paying attention. I thought Valaika was getting the SS reps. They both seem about the same defensively there so whatever.

I agree, but compared to Valaika, at SS, he is Mark Belanger.

He ended up leading the team in OBP (in 296 PA).

Interesting to see what '22 brings. Likely just a Uti guy but some chance he is a decent reg at 2b

Ramón Urías says he’s likely headed to the IL after feeling tightness in his oblique yesterday. Hopes it’ll be a quick stint

I really like Urias.  He's a guy you probably want to improve on as a starter, but he brings a lot to a team with his defensive versatility, and while the .245 / .295 / .400 is not impressive; I like his offensive approach and he hits the ball hard consistently.

Almost surely only 1 spot for Mateo or Urias next year. Both have to have some trade value. Interesting to see how they handle the offseason with these two.

I think there is room for both.  I think it is a mistake to just assume, that Vavra, Henderson and Westburg will all be starting next year.on OD.  In addition Vavra has played outfield this year so he could help there if needed.

The interesting thing will be does Mateo start at SS?

A FA is a good possibility as well. I just dont see room.on the roster for both. Maybe OD if they are trying to manipulate service time for one or both of Henderson and Westburg but not by May. I think we see one of them moved this offseason. Probably Mateo. Despite the bat the guy is playing a great SS, he has a cannon, and top end speed.

Yea, if they sign a solid free agent, then one or both could be dealt.  I will believe the free agent signing, when I see it.
