Good article, I remember all of that and even video games before the Sega vs Nintendo.

I love the quote by the New York times from 93:

“The game may finally be over for Nintendo,” The New York Times noted in April 1993, citing the concerns of industry analysts who had soured on the company’s long-term prospects.

Look how wrong they was!  The cube, then the Wii and finally the Switch. The Wii out sold the PS3 and Xbox 360 worldwide at one point in time, back in 16.

Nintendo has had its ups and downs. The N64 and Gamecube were outclassed and outsold by Sony. They bounced back big with the Wii but followed it up with a huge bomb that was the Wii U. Switch is selling like hotcakes. The thing to respect about Nintendo us how they are willing to try new things and are content to march to the beat of their own drum. PS5 and XBox are about to come out with 4k monster consoles and Nintendo is killing it with a 720p hybrid machine.

Personally, I loved the N64.

The Cube was ok, for the genre that my kids wanted to play.

The Wii U was a bomb, but heck the Wii is still a working console. From what I have seen in the extended family. PSx and Xboxes dont seam to last past 2 years.

The first gen Wii on a 4K big screen, is still fun to watch, Mario Kart and Mario Party seams to be a big hit among the grand kids, and playing 4 at one time, helps.

Even with the Switch, I dont see Nintendo in same league as Sony and MS Win, but that still a large market and making money.

The Switch, despite not being able to hang with the others with hardware, is just phenomenal. Probably my favorite console ever. Still, investing in a modern gaming rig custom PC is the way to go if you're into graphics. Even these new systems coming out can't touch it. Only downside is less of an online community for your big box games like Call of Duty, GTA, Red Dead Redemption and Madden, etc.

I get the PC love but its just convienient for me to stick with the consoles. I feel like there is too much involved with going to PC even though that might not be true.

I think that may have been true, but not anymore. If I could do it, you definitely could. And it felt good building it. Was surprised at how easy it was.

Its pretty cool, Ive done several over the years, but not for some time. Used to be cheaper to build, but these days, with the cost of legal OS, and cheap PCs, its not really that way anymore.

Its pretty much plug and play, hardware wise, of course, the higher end machines, you need to pay attention to power usage and cooling needs.

I loved the Cube.

I would play Madden for hours in my basement office while my wife and son slept.

The controller was so easy to use.

The cooling was the hardest part for me. But YouTube tutorials are so good these days.

Also, I got a huge case for the PC, and that helped avoid a lot of frustration for maneuvering around in there. And with the graphics cards being so huge these days, helps with that too.

Did you just use fans or was it liquid cooling?

I built one my senior year of college.  I overbuilt it, got a way more expensive graphics card and processor than I needed.  I didn't game much at the time and the gaming I did wasn't super intensive, but it was fun.  I get laptops through work now and don't spend any time gaming any longer, so have no need to build another.  But if I had unlimited time for unlimited hobbies, I'd definitely be interested.

He created two players. One was named Skillz who was a QB/Kicker who was 6' 6" 250 pounds.

The other guy was named Killa. he was tight end wo was 6' 8" and weighed 275.

 Both of these guys had ratings off the charts.

He asked me to play a season and his goal was to go undefeated  like the 72 Dolphins.

He beat up on me good in the preseason.

The opening game was against the Saints, when he kicked off too me i purposely put a late hit on Skillz.

It was worth the 15 yards to make the statement.

I shut down Skillz by double teaming and gang tackling all day.

His perfect season was ruined by the 23-13 loss.

We never played after that.

I didn't get a Father's Day card either.

There's a Micro Center less than a mile from my apartment, it's great.

I keep that in mind, be worth the drive, if I make a trip to Bennigans up the road from you.
