Part of the Givens trade

"Deson, 18, was originally signed by the Rockies on July 7, 2018, as an International free agent out of La Romana, Dominican Republic. He appeared in a combined 61 games for the Rockies DSL affiliates in 2019, hitting .252/.327/.336 (63-for-250) with 14-2B, 38 R, 20 RBI, & 23 SB"

From Baseball America,

"The Rockies signed Dominican outfielder Mishael Deson for $350,000 when he turned 16 on July 7. Deson stood out for his physical upside and chance to stay in center field. He's added about 15 pounds since signing and is now up to 6-foot-3, 170 pounds. He still has a lanky frame, with a lot of space to fill out and a chance for his tools to jump once that happens. He glides around center field with easy actions and average speed. It's tricky to project players getting faster, but given Deson's youth, running gait and physical projection, some scouts think he could run plus in the future. Deson isn't a polished hitter, but he has the strength projection to hit for big power if everything clicks, with Deson already flashing home run juice in games."

We may never see him, but given he was given a 350 bonus, the Rockies must have liked him.

While it's obviously going to be a while before we know if Deson materializes, I like the sound of this report--especially given that he's the PTBNL in a deal that also includes two solid, more polished prospects.

Wow, he added 15 pounds so he was only at 155? Stick figure.

Bob, looking at the Tyler Nevin thread and thinking about Deson...noticed he missed (no stats) all of 2023...injury?

Yeah, injury. Unfortunate because I know the org likes the tools and expected a bounce back last year. Hopefully can log at least close to a full season this year.
