I was thinking about this as we moved into March.. basically, I really dislike February and love March, so how would I rank the months in terms of what is going on in the sports world. Here's a first pass from me for what the highlights of each month are and how I would rank them:

  • The Masters

  • Final Four

  • NBA, NHL Playoffs

  • NFL Draft

3. March

  • MLB spring training

  • PGA Player's Championship

  • March Madness

  • Regular season NBA, NHL

  • NFL Free Agency

  • NBA Finals

  • US Open (golf)

  • French Open

  • Belmont Stakes

  • MLB regular season

5. September

  • US Open (tennis)

  • Start of NFL season

  • Start of NCAAF season

  • MLB regular season (playoff implications)

6. May

  • NBA, NHL Playoffs

  • PGA Championship

  • French Open

  • Kentucky Derby

  • Preakness Stakes

  • MLB regular season

7. December

  • Regular season NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAAB
  • NCAAF bowl games

8. January

  • NFL playoffs

  • NCAAF bowl games/National Championship

  • Regular season NBA, NCAAB, NHL

  • Australian Open

9. November

  • Start of NCAAB season
  • Regular season NFL, NCAAF, NBA, NHL

10. July

  • MLB All star game

  • MLB trade deadline

11. February

  • Superbowl

  • Daytona 500

When the Orioles are in the playoffs, October by a mile.

But March is as good a month as any, sports-wise.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

It used to be this time of year. But honestly, I have no faith in Turgeon for a deep run. And the Orioles have been so damn bad that I just can't get excited for baseball. I Bought OD tickets and am not even pumped. It sucks.

March is the best month of the year, and sports are a huge reason for that.

It’s March/April.

I kind of combine the months as saying this is the best time of year for Sports. So much going on.

It's March. Even when the Ravens are great. Even when the Orioles are great. It's March.

March is eh to me, but I don't not a fan of the NCAA as a whole, nor do I care much about college basketball anymore.

I probably like June the best, mostly for NBA reasons, but it's also a solid time for baseball as well as tennis, and there's the Stanley Cup.

January is great for the NFL plus there's NBA action, etc.

Given the list above, July/August is easily the worst.

MLB ASG, fine.

Open Championship isn't our major

NBA Summer league????? Please

Wimbledon...Not for me.

Orioles are done playing meaningful games.

By August, at least you can see football on the horizon and fantasy football prep begins.

March and April are my favorite. NFL Draft prep. Fantasy baseball prep. Bracketology. Conference and NCAATs. Opening Day. The Players, The Masters. Usually dusting off the golf clubs myself and hitting the driving range a few times, getting a round or two in if possible.

Yea if you aren’t into college hoops I can totally see disliking March.

However it looks like Opening Day in March is here to stay so that adds points.

Also LOVE my annual trip to NYC for my fantasy baseball draft.

Worst month for sports and worst month period is July. It’s the month with the only day that doesn’t have mlb nhl nba nfl ncaab or ncaaf. Also has horrendous humidity and the Fourth of July. Where you get to sit outside in 95 degree heat and get bit by mosquitos

Love the weather..NBA free agency is always fun. NFL training camps start.

July could be better for sure but it has its pluses.

I would say February is my least favorite. College basketball is good but you have the NBA AS break taking up about a week. No real NFL news..ST starts but it’s the time where it’s boring.

Yeah but all the build up is in January. Game this year was on the 2nd. And when it’s the Patriots which has been the norm....I’m pretty meh about the game.

It’s more of a response to me saying no real NFL news.

He’s right and I didn’t think of it at the time.

But yea, the game itself doesn’t matter that much to me unless the Ravens are in it.

Might not be a big deal to many ( I certainly enjoy it) but another plus for March is the start of the F-1 Season

I think I would put April first. In addition to the events on tv, its the month when I can start participating in activities outside.
