Both can be annoying.

I think the super defensive driver gets on my nerves more.

Yeah I hate it when someone is in the left hand lane going the speed limit, or less. GTFO.

Both are terrible, though.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Overly aggressive.  Super defensive driver is far less likely to kill someone (though there is added danger to everyone if somebody is driving under the speed of traffic in the left lane).

I don't mind people driving at high speed, but weaving in and out of traffic, crossing solid lines, and cutting people off is horrendous and dangerous.  Like drunks and texters, my main hope (beyond the fruitless, naive hope that they recognize their selfish and stupid ways and can change before something tragic happens) is that when those people inevitably get into crashes that the fatalities are limited to the driver.

Super defensive by far. Only overly aggressive that gets on my nerves is the rice rocket riders who weave traffic on the highways at like 90-100mph. I would not feel bad if someone suddenly changed lanes and scared the hell out of em...or worse.

What are the characteristics of a super defensive driver other than just driving slow?

Slow decision making.

Overly cautious merging.

Operating like they are scared.

Screwing up merges onto or off of highways is a big one.  Taking forever to change lanes and not being able to turn out from a stop sign into moving traffic correctly are others that jump to mind.

They both can be very dangerous but the defensive driver is less prone to killing you or someone else.

Yeah, doing things like coming to a stop when trying to merge from an entrance ramp is really dangerous, since the cars behind you tend to be looking behind them.

Well - I mean as annoying as those folks can be, I feel sorry for them more than anything else.  Similar to kids learning to drive I guess - they really are scared/nervous.

Now the person driving slowly in the left lane on the beltway I have a lot less empathy for, because that's just inconsiderate.

The worst thing that I do driving is that when I notice somebody driving aggressively, I try to screw with them. It's stupid and childish and perhaps a little dangerous.  But if I see someone behind me weaving in and out of lanes passing people, I'll occasionally make sure I stay even with the car next to me and clog things up a bit to slow them down, then giggle to myself as I see them getting angry in my rearview.

That is indeed stupid and childish.  I tend to do the same thing :)

If I'm in the left lane and there's no on in front of me and a car comes up behind me, absolutely I get over and let him through.  But if I'm keeping up with the flow of traffic in front me and we're passing cars, I don't like the guy that tries to pass me on the right and sneak back in in front of me, just because I'm not absolutely tailgating the guy in front of me.  So if I see someone trying to do that I'll speed up just enough so that they can't squeeze back in. Equally stupid and childish.
