Following a victory over Michigan on Thursday night, Maryland will hit the road for their toughest test of the season as they face off against #3 Purdue on Sunday afternoon. The Boilermakers currently hold a record of 18-1 (7-1), with their only loss coming by one point to Rutgers earlier this month. They've won their last five games, with two close calls against Ohio State and Michigan State.
Purdue is led by the enormous post presence of Zach Edey. Standing 7'4" and weighing in at 295 lbs., he leads them averaging 21 points and 13 rebounds per game. His size allows him to defend without fouling, and he's averaging less than two fouls per game this season. The Boilermakers also make use of their talented freshman backcourt pairing of Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer. They make up one of the best offensive units in the country, shooting 46% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc. Unlike some of Matt Painter's teams of the past, this one couples its electric offense with some excellent defensive play.
Maryland hasn't beaten Purdue on the road since 2014-15, their first season in the Big Ten.
