I didn't hear that Paramount+ would be streaming games. Would I be right to assume they would only be streaming the CBS game in your market, and not any CBS game you want? Asking for a wife who isn't looking forward to me going to a bar with Sunday ticket for the next 17 weeks minus primetime games.

If Paramount+ gives you your pick of CBS games that'd be swell.

Without actually looking it up to fact-check I can pretty much assure you your assumption is correct. Sunday Ticket is the exclusive source for out-of-market games on Sunday afternoon. It's why the package fetches around $2B per year. The good news is starting next season you should be able to get it without having to subscribe to DirecTV [ick].

re: Sunday Ticket, availability for the digital/streaming version *has* been opened up a bit in recent years (especially if you live in an apartment/dorm/etc), so it's not satellite exclusive. I've had it since 2020, and it's great (but pricey, around $300/year).

You can check your address for availability on their site. Super beneficial if you're an out of market fan (essential for me, a Ravens fan on the west coast), less so if you're in-market or even a state away from your team.

CBS streams pretty much everything airing on your local CBS on Paramount+, same for NBC on Peacock. I suppose you could use a VPN to spoof your location (which would especially matter for Sunday afternoon games), but I've never actually tried it.

DIRECTV requires a 24 month commitment for NFL ticket, what happens when they lose their contract after this season?

Nielsen says Amazon’s first TNF game was seen in 11.8 million homes. That’s just through Prime and doesn’t include the OTA simulcasts in KC and LA, which would take it up to 13.3M. That’s a really good number, better than ESPN’s ratings for both weeks of MNF this season.

Part of that might have been the novelty factor and hype of Amazon’s first exclusive game, plus you had Mahomes vs Herbert, which will usually draw a strong audience.
