Huh, I could do Iceland for my birthday in May for $798 roundtrip for two people. Not bad...

Iceland was very cool. May might be a bit early in terms of ideal weather, but let me know if you want any Iceland tips.

Has anyone here gone to Africa?

Thinking about Uganda this summer and doing gorilla + chimpanzee treks among other things this summer.

I have not, but everyone I know who has gone has nothing but amazing things to say about it.  Definitely high on my list of desired places to visit.

Uganda specifically or Africa in general?

Africa in general.  South Africa, Kenya, and Ethiopia are the places my friends/family have gone if I'm remembering correctly.

Good deal. South Africa was supposed to be our big 2020 trip, but you know. Still on the agenda for sometime in the next few years.

Other than the historical and cultural components of Ethiopia, the highlands are a big reason I'd like to visit. If anyone is unfamiliar with geladas, google them. Very cool animals.

Hoping to go there this fall for our 20th anniversary. South Africa for some wine and then a safari somewhere, preferably Botswana or Tanzania.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Good deal. We were going to do Cape Town, some wine, great white cages diving, the Garden Route, Addo Elephant, Kruger, and Victoria Falls.

Some other time though as that's too ambitious of an itinerary for this summer with what else we got going on.

Botswana is also high on my list as it looks like one of the best safari spots and I loved the Okavango Delta scenes in Planet Earth.

For those into golfing, I hear this 19th hole in South Africa is a must do.

400 yards and 400 yards high and a par 3.

Got back from a family trip to Siesta Key, FL.  Was supposed to be a baseball-oriented trip but, well, you know.

So we just had to suffer and spend most days at the beach.  Saw my 1st ever sunset over the water horizon, and a local hotel played Taps every day at sunset.  Being an east coast guy have seen many sunrises but never a sunset.  I was just about moved to tears over the beauty of it.

We're due to pull the RV from Tennessee to Sonoma County, California in a month, but gas prices are making that questionable.

We have reservations at the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, and Alcatraz. Might catch a game at the Giants' park. Will be camping at Bodega Bay and various spots north of SF.

But $5 gas at 10.6 mpg really blows ....

NOLA?

Correct.

It was a great time to visit weather wise considering the crap here the past few days, but also because of the dual free festivals in Louis Armstrong Park (Treme Creole Gumbo Festival and the Congo Square Rhythms Festival).

I feel like this festival experience was more like what Jazzfest probably used to be as they stuck with Nawlins music and got some of the best acts in the city. Great food at the fest as well. I highly recommend it. We may even go back next year.

I’ll call you when I’m down for the ravens game. I’ll even tailgate with you and sit next to you at the game!!

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty
