Jeff Ermann reports that Maryland will pay Willard approximately $4.4 million per year over the course of his 5-year contract. This is about $1 million more per year than Turgeon was making at the end of his tenure, and is a Top 10-15 contract nationally.

That he’s had the most non-conference wins of any coach against Big Ten teams since 2014 definitely shouldn’t be dismissed. His Seton Hall teams played a style that can win games in this conference.

It is a done deal now, so let's get to work.  Success in the portal can lead to an entertaining 2022-23 season.  Let's go Maryland and HC Kevin Willard.

The good news for Willard is the team needs pretty much everything, so he doesn't have to be too picky about who he can find to add either as a transfer or as a new recruit.

Will be interesting to see who sticks around.  I'm expecting Scott, Hart, and Reese to stay.  Don't think Wahab returns.  No idea on Martinez.

Reports of Kevin Willard's new deal were incorrect. Per good source, it’s a 7-year contract starting at $3.9M in 2022-23 with a $100,000 escalator each season. Worth $29.4 total.

Kevin Willard is officially the head coach at Maryland. Terps swung and missed at some bigger names, but landed a guy who has done an incredible job at Seton Hall the last 6-7 years.

Gary approves but to be fair, if he hated it I think he'd still say something nice in public lol

There are narratives and takes and you name it on here, but what cannot be argued: Kevin Willard leaves Seton Hall significantly better than where he found it in South Orange. It’s not an easy job, but it’s increased in value. He made making NCAAT the expectation again.

I am curious as to who the bigger names really were.  I do not think Miller or Pitino were ever seriously considered.  The stink on both, probably lead the  decision makers far away.

I have read that he was involved in the search.  I think he would have remained quiet if he did not like the pick.

I actually feel better about the choice than I thought I would.

I'd be surprised if both Scott and Hart stay.  I'd be happy if 1 of them did.

No inside info there.  But they're both seniors, with the coach they knew and were recruited by having left.  I'd think they would at least look around.

No, he was quoted as saying he was not involved.
