After finally winning their first conference game in double overtime against Northwestern, Maryland returns to College Park to host Rutgers on Saturday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights currently hold a record of 9-6 (3-2), with conference victories over Michigan, Nebraska, and Purdue, and losses to Illinois and Penn State. Before losing to the Nittany Lions on Tuesday night they'd won four games in a row. Steve Pikiell's squad has yet to record a win on the road this season.

While their defense has been decent, Rutgers' biggest problems have been with their offense. They're shooting 43% from the field, 33% from beyond the arc, and 67% at the free throw line. Senior forward Ron Harper, Jr. leads the team with 16 points per game, and also averages 7 rebounds.

I think every game is going to be a struggle for Maryland, but this seems to be a winnable game.  As long as Maryland gets 90 % of their scoring from 4 guys, it is tough to see them turn things around.

Russell, Ayala, Scott and Hart need help.

10-4 Maryland at the under-16.

Ayala with 6, Hart with 4.

What do you think the cap is on Big Ten regular season wins MD can have? 11? 10?

I think most would set the over / under for MD at 7 or 8.

If they maxed out and got 11 (I guess depending on who the 11 wins was against)... I'd think they would need another win, and probably two in the BTT.

Qudus Wahab was a giant swing and a miss. But no harm done really, not like they are stuck with him. Good kid though. Good for Reese.

Ayala already with 8, 5 minutes in.

Did Randall teach Reese to shoot FTs?? My goodness.

Eh. They’ll win 3-4 more conference games. That’s it

Trying to look at it as neutral as possible, I’m seeing maybe 6 or 7. If they get hot, maybe 8 or 9. But it’s a tough conference again this year. PSU is playing well, Indiana, Iowa is tough despite being unranked. Even Minnesota has been impressive under their new coach. Nebraska is the only sure thing IMO.

Wahab stepped onto campus and forgot how to play basketball.

Re: Wahab... he's not horrible, but his limitations are definitely limited.... more than that, he was on numerous lists as one of the Top 5-10 transfers... and he's definitely not the guy he was built up to be.

9 points, 7 boards, 1 block per... 21 minutes a game... he's not a total zero.

Will be interesting to see if he stays.  Probably not.
