Really nice interview Ian. And of course I am a bit partial to Zach with his local ties. Interesting to hear what he had to say about playing multi sports. I have always been a fan of that approach at least until kids get to say 14 or 15 anyway. I have seen far too many cases where a kid looks to be a solid soccer player at U10. Some team picks him up and wants him to play spring and fall plus indoor in the winter and camps in the summer.
For some that approach works and all that training pays off. But I think the reverse is also true. All that time dedicated to one sport burns kids out and they end up out and out quitting. I worry that we lose more talent that way than the improved play we get from a kid who just plays year round.
