Looking for a big score next week for everyone.

Wide open race, there will be a ton of good betting opportunities. Whoever wins should cash BIG.

That of course makes it a much harder race to handicap, but we'll see if we can't find a nice price.

Coming up on the 15 year Anniversary of the biggest score of my life, the 2001 Derby. Let's see if we can make some more magic.

CBS Sports: Kentucky Derby draw, odds: Nyquist 3-1 fave

NBC Sports: Derby 2016: 5 horses to watch in 142nd Kentucky Derby

NBC Sports: Wire-to-wire for Nyquist as No. 1 contender for Derby

This is a really tough race, but whoever hits this is going to make some money as it's one of the better betting races in Louisville in years. Here's my play if anyone cares:

Putting $1000 into the race

$250 to win on the 17-Mor Spirit

$100 Exacta Box 17-11 (Exaggerator)

$50 Exacta Box 17-9 (Destin)

$50 Exacta Box 17-20 (Danzing Candy)

$35 Exacta Box 17-19 (Brody's Cause)

$35 Exacta Box 17-3 (Creator)

$20 Exacta Box 17-4 (Mo Tom)

$30 Exacta Box 11-20-9 (my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choices)

Actually $1010 total.

Leaving out the favorite, not because I don't like him, just looking for a big score.

My dad hit on Cathryn Sophia yesterday and is going in big on Mohaymen today. I know nothing but he handicaps a lot so I respect his opinion. Always enjoy these big races.

Don't let your mom know about that.

Eh, they divorced 25 years ago she won't mind. Plus she's got a long face, nothing to be jealous of.

Nice hit, Dad!

using the same theory as Cathryn Sophia that you throw out one bad race, then Mohaymen is a very good play, especially at 12-1 or so. My top horse, Mor Spirit is somewhat similar, ran a bad race last out, but was in the mud, which I'm willing to excuse.

This is a great Derby, as you can really make a case for 12-15 of these. I didn't use Mohaymen, but good to luck to your Pops.

I plan on hitting the superfecta todsy

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Good plan.

How about a few more specifics.

Race horses are so crazy...

Horse #1 got scratched from the prelim race because he freaked out and banged his head... why did he do this?

Because it rained....

Some debris hit him in the face, freaked him out. They couldn't calm him down, then he banged his head.

That's what they said at first... but then they talked to somebody else who was down there, and that's not what he said... he just said it was the rain... so, I'm not sure what really happened...

He's a veteran horse who has ran in bad weather a few times, so it'd be odd that the rain freaked him out singlehandedly, but whatever. Glad he wasn't seriously hurt.

Ha.

Kent is the jockey, Keith the trainer..They're brothers, but not close.

Kent got his start here in Maryland and won 500 plus races one year when I was cutting high school to go to the track.
