#orioles agree to terms with Jamie Moyer. Starting Saturday for Norfolk, team anounces.

Gotta love pitching depth. I'll be rooting for him. Why wouldn't you pull for a 49 year old guy still playing the game?

Buck said Moyer will get 2 or 3 starts w Norfolk. Team will reevaluate after that.

Both. Figure it does not hurt to bring him in. Favor to Moyer (and his local connections). Moyer gets a couple of Minor League starts, and the O's see where they are. Perhaps a few weeks from now, his experience will look like a viable option for a couple of starts.

DD just seems to love throwing a lot of crap against the wall to see if anything will stick. Considering most of it has been minor league deals I'm fine with that.

Duquette reiterated Moyer will get a 2-3 start audition process and if he pitches well enough, could be called up to #Orioles.

I think this is awesome. If it doesn't work, who cares? I think Jamie Moyer is one of the easiest guys to root for, especially now that he's defying a lot of odds by even being at this level in his career.

I'd love to see him get back to the bigs for at least a start or two with us.

Norfolk will definitely contend in the American League East in 2003.

Any word on how Moyer pitched today? I'm sure it wasn't amazing stuff, but I'm curious to know.

Somewhat awkward interview with WNST's Glenn Clark...

I thought it was pretty funny. It's like he doesn't know he's about to be 50 years old pitching in the big leagues.

Yeah, a little awkward from the start. Glenn didn't do anything wrong there.

Any chance he's the one who starts on Thursday? I know it's probably too soon for him, but I'd trust him more than Hunter.

Do we see him in Baltimore any time soon?

I have no idea why, but my gut tells me yes.

Arrieta and Hunter have earned another turn through the rotation, so Moyer gets at-least one more AAA start. If Britton does start improving though, Moyer and Tillman might be the first options.

I'm thinking a 49 year old is going to draw the short end of the straw all things being equal. So I think he'll have to outperform Bergy/Tillman and maybe even Miguel Gonzalez to get up here.

Would he want to stick around for September call-ups? His options might be limited elsewhere.

He might consider it only if there are literally no other options anywhere else. It seems clear that both the club and Moyer were doing this with the plan of Moyer either being called up relatively quickly, or Moyer being released if it didn't work out.

So far, it seems to be a wash, mainly because the guys in front of him have been good enough to continue their roles.
