I didn't read the above article, but I LOVE Hofburg in the Belmont. I don't care if he's 2-1 or 200-1, I'm betting a large sum of money on him.

Edit: I just read the article, hopefully Hofburg isn't the "hot horse' all week and his odds come down.

Who do you even bet horses with if you don’t have a bookie or go to the tracks?

TVG.com

twinspires.com

DRFbets.com

Those are the "big three" in the industry.

Quick Belmont Preview:

1- Justify 4-5:

Obviously the deserving favorite, has done nothing wrong thus far in his quest for the Triple Crown, but is 5 races in 4 months simply too much? I say it is. We'll see on Saturday.

2-Free Drop Billy 30-1: He was much better as a two year than he's been at three, but is bred to run all day, I've seen worse 30-1 shots in my day.

3-Bravazo 8-1: Ran a game second in the Preakness and almost upset the champ, but I'm not a fan of his in the Belmont and will be leaving him off my ticket. Might regret it, but you can't bet on all of them.

4-Hofburg 9-2: I've been waiting for 5 weeks to bet this horse, in this race. Perfectly bred for the Belmont Stakes, and breeding is usually the difference with three year olds going 1 1/2 miles. LOVE this guy.

5-Restoring Hope 30-1: I've learned not to question Bob Baffert, but....I just don't see this one being competitive.

6-Gronkowski 12-1: Will likely be overbet because of name recognition, but he's never ran farther than a mile, and this is a huge step up. Pass

7-Tenfold 12-1: Ran a great race in Baltimore, and is likely another who should relish the extra distance. His sire, Curlin ran second in this race, and his dam sire, Tapit has produced 3 of the last 4 Belmont Stakes winners. Dangerous contender

8-Vino Rosso 8-1: Disappointed a lot of bettors in Louisville, got a freshening, and is back in his hometown. Two of his three career wns have come in New York, and Pletcher certainly knows how to win the Belmont. Which brings us to....

9-Noble Indy 30-1: I have personally spoke to someone in the industry who loves this horse on Saturday. Todd Pletcher in the Belmont at 30-1,  wow, might be worth a few bucks for sure. He's only run poorly once in his career, though that was the Kentucky Derby 5 weeks ago.

10-Blended Citizen 15-1: The only horse in the field with a win over the Belmont track, which was a few weeks ago in the Peter Pan Stakes. Doug O'Neill gets one to the gate just a few years after having to scratch Nyquist (2016) and I'll Have Another (2012) the day before the race.

Here's how I'm playing this race based on a $500 bankroll.

$250 WIN bet on #4 Hofburg

$250 Exacta #4 Hofburg/#7 Tenfold.

Let's beat the favorite and make some $$$.

Exacta means those two have to finish top 2? Or in that order?

Good luck this weekend!

Yes, Exacta means 1-2...

Exacta box could be either or 1st or 2nd, but it costs double.

I'm really excited for this one. i've been on Hofburg for the Belmont since before the Derby.

We'll see.

The advertisers and the network have to be happy.  People actually pay attention when there's a triple crown chance.

Impressive.

It felt more special when American Pharaoh did it.

Agreed. But try and remember it still, because it could be 30 years until the next one... and we can be old and telling the kiddos in the 40's how special American Pharaoh and Justify were.
