Next: ????
I want a non-small station wagon that's not a dog. Mercedes cost too much, Volvo might be OK, new Buick TourX (Opel Insignia) might be OK. Am in no rush.
But if Honda sold Accord wagons here, I'd get one tomorrow... the new Accords with the 2.0T and 10-speed-auto are crazy-good cars.
If I wanted a luxo car, I'd wait a year or 2, then hunt around for a used Genesis G80 3.3T AWD. http://autoweek.com/...nder-hands-down Great cars, but their new badge and non-rep means the used car value is gonna sink like a stone.

Shack... aren't you like 6'8...? There was enough room in the Mini?
Plenty.
Hell, I had one of these:
And one of these...
I was at a Design Forum at the North American Auto Show (Detroit) shortly before the new Mini Coopers were introduced. The designer (who later went to Ferrari) gave a talk about them, they had prototypes on the floor. The designer was like 6'5". I asked him if I could fit. He said "Sure, go sit in one and see." I said "They're all locked." He said, "We can fix that." And he did. I came home and got on three waiting lists for one as soon as they started selling them... months later, the one I got came in at the Mini Cooper place in Towson.
They're short in length. They're not short in height.
The routine is (1) move the seat back, (2) recline seatback as appropriate for head, then (3) bend knees as required. In general, the main enemy for tall folks is the ever-widening center console. No room to put your knee between it and the wheel. It's getting worse all the time. The revenge of CAD: they always designed for 95 percentile... but now they can do it precisely and screw taller folks They're even starting to shrink room on the L side of the wheel to make room for more buttons on the door.

Could you fit in the Datsun in with the top up? I thought there was a story about Sean Connery not being able to fit in one in You Only Live Twice.
EDIT: never mind, I think he drove a Toyota 2000, not a Datsun 200.
Yes... the Datsun 2000 had a tall top....
The Toyota 2000GT is famous (and now megabuck).... and designed for tiny people.... not a great car, but a breakthru for Japan's car industry....
It was actually designed and built by Yamaha.... they shopped it around and Toyota bought the rights to badge it and sell it as a halo car... it was designed by the same German guy who did the original 240Z.... which was extra roomy.... The 240Z was $3,600 new... lots of NBA players got them (they weren't all millionaires then)... you can see some similarities in the style elements of the 2000GT and the 240Z... besides the extra space, the 240Z was designed for a production line... the 2000GT was pretty much hand-built...

2003 Honda Civic until yesterday when I sold it. Had just short of 242k miles on it.
Bought a new Accord a couple weeks ago after the Civic blew it's head gasket for the 2nd time and I decided it wasn't worth throwing more money into.
Hopefully my next car will drive itself. This one almost does, but I'm looking for a Homer Simpson, feet on the dash, "take me home" type of ride.

Do all Jeep owners do that or just Wranglers?

Man, I know this is completely stupid, but I would've tried a lot of things just to put another 8K+ miles on it.... just because...

Which engine/transmission? If it's a 1.5T with the CVT, did you have to get used to the CVT?

I bet plenty of get-dirty Wrangler owners don't wave at Cherokee owners driving around in their fancy SUV's....

300k is the number I wanted to get to. I thought about trying to dump some of those containers of "head seal" type products into it and see if I could get a few more months or even a year out of it. Was really trying to make it to when my wife's car ('16 Forrester) is paid off next July. But it's been giving me more and more trouble over the past year and when I did the last fairly big maintenance in February I decided if another expense came up in the next 6 months, I was going to move on. Sadly, I barely got two months from that point.

It's the 1.5 with the CVT. The whole thing feels so different to me (it actually accelerates when I push the gas) that I can't tell what differences are just because it's a decent engine and what's because of the CVT. I don't drive very aggressively/excitingly, just sort of A to B, so I don't know if I'd notice even if the CVT was the only difference between vehicles. I bought a much nicer car than I currently need because I'm hoping to eventually need the extra space, but I would've been perfectly happy to continue driving that Civic for several more years.

My theory is that there are basically 2 kinds of car people.... one kind experiences the car as an appliance to get from A to B.... the other kind experiences the car as an instrument to learn how to best play.... you're a car-is-an-appliance guy, I'm a car-is-an-instrument guy... the new Accord is great for either kind... it's good enough to be an instrument, but it won't let those qualities intrude on you as you appliance your way from A to B....
I'd want the 2.0T with the 10-speed, but it's the same basic instrument either way.... I'm curious about what it would take to "learn to play" that CVT best... different strokes, etc...
