Any top-50 players from Canada?  Puerto Rico?  That's probably the closest we can get to adding an impact young international talent.

The asinine ongoing aversion to spending on International talent leaves me less of a fan than I've ever been. Until there are changes in the way we operate, it will remain so. It's pathetic that it's come to this.

EDIT: It "appears" that Angelos' sons may be looking to change the way we operate and spend on International talent. Time will tell, but if the club begins to treat the Int. Market like many other quality organizations, it'll go a long way in helping rebuild this franchise to where it should be.

The 2018 MLB Draft will be held on June 4-6 and can be viewed on MLB Network and MLB.com.

The O's first two picks are 11th and 37th this year.

For those interested, please read on the top prospects, using sites like:
Fangraph's
MLB Pipeline
BaseballAmerica (Some info may behind a paywall)
2080 Baseball

Here's the order, up to #37.

First Round
  1 Detroit Tigers
  2 San Francisco Giants
  3 Philadelphia Phillies
  4 Chicago White Sox
  5 Cincinnati Reds
  6 New York Mets
  7 San Diego Padres
  8 Atlanta Braves
  9 Oakland Athletics
10 Pittsburgh Pirates
11 Baltimore Orioles (Pick value: $4,375,100)
12 Toronto Blue Jays
13 Miami Marlins
14 Seattle Mariners
15 Texas Rangers
16 Tampa Bay Rays
17 Los Angeles Angels
18 Kansas City Royals
19 St. Louis Cardinals
20 Minnesota Twins
21 Milwaukee Brewers
22 Colorado Rockies
23 New York Yankees
24 Chicago Cubs
25 Arizona Diamondbacks
26 Boston Red Sox
27 Washington Nationals
28 Houston Astros
29 Cleveland Indians
30 Los Angeles Dodgers

Compensation picks
If a team that loses a qualifying free agent is a revenue-sharing recipient, then the team -- if and only if the lost player signs for at least $50 million -- is awarded a compensatory pick between the first round and Competitive Balance Round A. If the player signs for less than $50 million, the compensation pick for the team comes after Competitive Balance Round B

31 Tampa Bay Rays (Compensation for Alex Cobb, who signed with the Orioles. Baltimore forfeited its second-round pick.)
32 Tampa Bay Rays
33 Kansas City Royals
34 Kansas City Royals
35 Cleveland Indians

Competitive Balance Round A
All teams that have either one of the 10 smallest markets or 10 smallest revenue pools receive an additional pick at the end of the first or second round. In 2017, six picks were assigned between the first and second rounds based on a formula that considers winning percentage and revenue. The remaining eight eligible teams received a supplemental selection between the second and third rounds. In 2018, the groups of teams switch places, meaning there will be eight Comp Round A picks and six in Round B.

Competitive Balance picks may be traded and are not subject to forfeiture.

36 Pittsburgh Pirates
37 Baltimore Orioles (Pick value: $1,923,500)

A mock draft I just found, from Perfect Game (4/20/18).

It's still early, but these are some players I'm really starting to like: RHP Carter Stewart (HS), LHP Matt Liberatore (HS), RHP Cole Winn (HS), OF Connor Scott (HS), RHP Mike Vasil (HS), RHP Jackson Kowar (Florida), OF Tristan Pompey (Kentucky), RHP Lenny Torres, Jr. (HS) and 3B Jordan Groshans (HS).

If we lose to the White Sox tonight, we'll be last in the overall standings. Naturally, in the Way Too Early Dept., that'd put us back into the lead for the #1 pick in next year's draft. Harkens back to our taking Ben McDonald #1.

I hope the O's take the best player available when they draft. Always the case. But that said I hope they just look hard at college players. You just have more information on them compared to HS kids and especially pitchers. We are so bad at developing arms that I hate to see them draft HS pitchers.

They are bad at developing everybody. I almost believe some guys are just good enough in spite of what the Orioles try to make them do. They take top guys like Wieters and Matusz who are complete bums. They take top guys like Manny and Bundy (for the most part) who work out in spite of anything the Orioles try to do. They get success from Mancini in the 8th round, they don't from Arrietta in the 5th round. Guys leave here and find success elsewhere more than you would think they should.

Basically they just need to draft a naturally talented player and then just let him do what makes him comfortable. Anyone who is a project, forget about it.

I really don't care who they draft under this current regime. Zero faith. Every pick is a lottery ticket. And the GM might be drafting like the Orioles may be an opponent of his for the next few years...so theres that.
