Example... I dislike Sprite, but like 7UP.

Wonder how long it'll take before McNulty insults Pedro in this thread...

Hunts Ketchup is clearly an inferior and shit product compared to Heinz.

Same as Jif Peanut Butter vs anything else.

Warm coke with ice <> cold coke with ice.

Coke over ice <> ice added to coke

That's the same thing as good vs bad...

I'll go with that. When I order an iced tea and they bring me the crap out of the soda fountain.

Hellman's and Miracle Whip.

I'll pinch pennies and get store brand items of some things. But not mayo. There's Hellman's, and the rest is garbage and tastes as such.

My mother in law buys miracle whip for herself when she comes to visit. Sure enough we have this argument. She'll tell me "same difference." But I don't see her using the Hellman's.

I have heard this too...I am not a mayo fan, so I don't really care but I have no doubt Hellmans is the better one.

I'd argue that Hellman's and Miracle Whip aren't even the same product.  Like comparing grape jelly to strawberry jelly.  It's the same type of thing, but they are clearly different.

I like Miracle Whip on a sandwich just fine, but it's abysmal in anything else.  You can't use it for egg salad or chicken salad or anything like that, just too much zing or zest or whatever their advertising says it has.

Definitely agree that Hellman's is the best mayo brand out there.  It's the only one I'll buy.  Some people like Duke's, but I do not think it's nearly as good.  I do (of course, Pedro) like to make my own which is even better than Hellman's.  But only in small batches, I use Hellman's for when I need large amounts.

Hidden Valley Ranch dressing vs other ranch dressing.

At least there are other ranch dressings out there that aren't bad but they aren't HV.

On that topic...the freaks who dip their buffalo wings in ranch versus us sane people who dip them in blue cheese.  All about ranch for veggies trays or on a salad, though.

I will eat blu cheese on a salad but ranch is better.

Blu cheese crumbles are the shit though.

Shoprite (Klein's) store-brand mayo is Hellman's. Or at least it tastes like it to me.

There aren't too many things where I outright dislike one similar option over another, although I have preferences. Hellman's tastes different than, say, Kraft, but I like Kraft just fine and prefer Hellman's. Same with Heinz vs. Hunts (prefer the former). Sprite always tasted sweeter and less citrusy than 7Up, so I preferred the latter (even though you never ever see it anywhere; always Sprite or Sierra Mist), but when I drank soda either was fine.

Maybe we're all just supertasters :D

Can't say I've tried all the steak sauces out there but I'm not happy when I see something other than A1.

Right on, Mackus, re: mayo and Miracle Whip.

Speaking of Hellmann's, one thing I really miss is their bottled Italian salad dressing; it was in stores in the '90s and is the best Italian dressing I've ever had. In the UK, there is a much wider variety of Hellmann's-branded products than there is here, but Italian salad dressing is not in the offing. These days I use Kraft Tuscan House Italian dressing instead.

I always found 7Up to be crisper than Sprite or Sierra Mist. Long live The Uncola (though I almost never drink soda anymore).
