Headed there in a  few weeks to see the Braves' new park.

Any and all recommendations are welcomed -- I'll be staying in the middle of down town.

Specifically looking for good places to grab a bite (I assume there is great BBQ down there) and good bar districts that are Pedro-style (not clubby).

Is the Coke museum worth it?

Thanks.

I'll be in Atlanta the week before Memorial Day weekend. I'll be seeing them play the Pirates at the new stadium. Didn't realize how close a drive Birmingham was. I'm also open to any recommendations. I've heard good things.

The aquarium is amazing. The zoo is pretty cool.

Coke museum wasn't good.  Underground Atlanta is just a low-end mall.  If one wants high end shopping, Atlanta has plenty.

I kind of liked the CNN tour, but not something you 'have to do.'

Saw the Rockwell collection at the High Museum...  but that was more random.

Didn't get to the Civil War Museum, or MLK Birthplace...

Traveling on the MARTA is okay.  Locals look down on it, but was pretty clean, and in a city not easy to maneuver was nice that some public transportation was available.

Give yourself plenty of time to get wherever... traffic is no joke, even for those of us used to horrible conditions in Baltimore / DC.

For someone going down for a longer stretch of time... a 2 hour drive north into Tennessee, and you can go whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River... that was fun... https://ocoeerafting.com/

There are lots of beer, and bbq festivals...

Here's an article on Atlanta Breweries:
http://atlanta.eater...ries-craft-beer

From what I saw on my visits... Buckhead, Dunwoody, Alpharetta were the best places to be.... bar hop, great restaurants...

Atlanta truly has a million restaurants... seems like nothing stays long... still here's a recent ranking of their best:
http://www.atlantama...estrestaurants/

& their best bars:

Could you possibly expand on why you didn't like the Coke Museum?

If Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles is still open, that place was really good a few years ago.

I thought it would show more of their history, different marketing campaigns....  let you taste everything from 'New Coke' to 'Coke Blak' and whatever they were going to launch next... but all they really had was an extended version of a typical Coke Super Bowl ad.... showing people around the world drinking Coke... 20 minute infomercial, and then dropped off in a gift shop.

Been years since I've been, maybe improved? Was there twice though, and was rough both times.

That is all you need.

College Football Hall of Fame is there as well. Pretty cool.

I was there maybe two years ago. It hasn't improved. It might be more fun if you go dressed in a "Drink Pepsi" shirt.

Agree about the aquarium but wasn't impressed with the zoo either.

I really liked the Gorzilla exhibit, but don't remember much else standing out.

Speaking of which... for the life of me I have no idea how to get stuff like that in other cities with no connections. It's annoying. Especially when you're flying and you rely on a certain all natural something every day that can't be brought with me on a plane. I'm very annoyed about this.

Could be. And could be that I use it daily and still am such a nub that I wouldn't even know where to start in a new city lol. All hypothetical and I'm sure Stoner loves this lol.

If you're in a bar talk to a bartender. Usually that's a good way to start.

Hate all you want, but Knight & Winans Chicken and Waffles is fan-fucking tastic.

Also, they just opened a Baseballism store in Atlanta (if you're my friend on fb, I posted about it). I'm really looking forward to going there.
