Still very early and a lot will change, but Hopkins has looked impressive, particularly the offense. They've got a good test with this upcoming stretch of games.

Looking forward to seeing some Towson games. They lost a lot on defense, which was their strength from the great season they had last year with that run in the tourney.

Big win for the #1 Terps today over #8 Yale. #2 Women's team has a huge matchup vs #1 UNC in a few minutes.

You want to talk wild, how about the Stony Brook - Brown game!  Sea Wolves took it 25-17!!

To see a D1 game rack up that many goals is incredible!  Must've been a fun one to watch.  Stony Brook had this one in hand from the get go, taking an 8-0 lead after 1, insane!!!

When the new polls are released this week, Maryland will have the #1 men's and #1 women's lacrosse teams in the country. Pretty special.

Rules question:  Have they abandoned the limit on how deep the pocket can be?

Last time I checked, the official rule says   you "shouldn't" be able to see daylight between the ball and the bottom of the head.   Having said that, you wonder how strict they are about enforcing the rules.   Quint Kessenich and others have mentioned the pockets being "too" deep and the heads being narrower, making it easier to hold on to the ball.  You can see the results out there in the game, when there is a clean check and the ball is still secure in the pocket.

Here's why I asked...  you'd need a ball the size of dang melon to make that pocket look legal....

There are no restrictions on pocket size/depth for the goalies stick.

One other thing about the sticks, the goalies have always had a mesh pocket.  However the attack, middies, and d almost always used a "traditional" pocket, this was still the case when I was still playing (late '90's).  There were maybe a handful of kids that had a mesh pocket (these kids we're considered weird).   Times have changed as everyone uses a mesh pocket.

Girls still use traditional though.

Towson and Loyola play this Wednesday at 7 in a nice midweek heavyweight matchup. Should be a good measuring stick game for Towson.

Notre Dame and Maryland this Saturday should be game of the week as far as rankings go.

Hopkins' blowout win over North Carolina came as a bit of a shocker. The Jays look much improved from their disappointing 2016. Two other very early surprises for me are Navy struggling as much as they have, and Army picking up some nice wins early.

Syracuse, and the ACC in general, looks like they could be in for a down year as well.

Terps lose their first of the year to #4 Notre Dame today in a very low-scoring game, 5-4.
