Used to love Guinness years ago. Then in 1999 I went to Dublin and drank the Guinness there....soooooo much better than what we get stateside, so I stopped drinking it. Hopefully this means they replicate how it's brewed over there.

That's not just Guinness. It seems to happen with all the major Euro beers that we can get here. MUCH better over there.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Wow, that's really close to my house, too. And Heavy Seas is also only a few miles from there (now that I think about it, I guess that's the same as Clipper City).

They are still Clipper City Brewing Company and they make Heavy Seas Beer. Same as Boston Brewing Company, Sam Adams Beer. I just like the name Clipper City more.

Brief summary: Maryland has complicated beer and alcohol rules. As part of Guiness coming to MD the rules were going to change to accomodate Guiness and at the same time, benefit all of the local guys as well.
Apparently the House passed a version of the bill that provides all the help that Guiness needs yet could really harm Maryland Breweries.

Yeah, it sucks. Guinness isn't the bad guy here, it's really bars and liquor stores (and those that agree) that want too protect their interests by preventing breweries from competing more with them. But politicians seem eager to bend over backwards for Guinness while screwing over the smaller breweries.

To be more clear, this is about choosing between competing small businesses. Whatever they do, some type of small businesses will complain.

I just e-mailed my state senator through the link in that article. It will probably do no good, but I guess it can't hurt.
But, yeah, I guess it's a choice between supporting bars/liquor wholesalers or the breweries.

Definitely cool that Guinness is coming to town, but I still plan to support local brewers first and foremost with my drinking habits.

Sounds like the Senate was able to reach a bit of a compromise here. Seems like this version of the bill won't hinder MD breweries already open, but it doesn't exactly help breweries that plan on opening in the future.
