What are the differences besides one surface consists of sand? Court length smaller in beach? Are the net hieght the same?Indoor volleyball has been around for a long time. Eventually beach volleyball gained enough popularity and high-caliber play to become an Olympic sport. Some of the tactics and strategy are also different with only two players on a side, even though there are fundamental similarities.
What's next street or roller-blade hockey? Whiffleball? Half-court basketball?

I'd prefer all of those to skeet shooting and (even though I enjoy playing it) table tennis.

The amount of players is the primary difference.

There are four different swimming strokes with four or so different lengths each. Can someone explain to me why we have two different types of volleyball?, other than the fact beach volleyball makes for better eye-candy.
Lot's of events have multiple variations that all get their own medals. Almost all of them, in fact.

Right, and most of them aren't as different as volleyball versus beach volleyball. It's like asking about the difference between football and arena football, or soccer and indoor soccer, or field hockey and ice hockey. There are four different swimming strokes with four or so different lengths each.

That was a legitimate point and DJ also said something with his comment with the differences between soccer (Indoor), football (arena), hockey (field). Why don't you stick to the substance of the posts instead if attacking the poster?Nonsense as usual.

I thought DJ was being facetious, and he was fine with various events that are similar. (If not, he can correct me.)
Regardless, when you ask if there are different types of water for a swimming event, people are going to call you out on it. It's silly and it's certainly not a legitimate point. There are many types of versions of sports in the Olympics. If you don't like it, you don't have to watch.

I didn't think he was being facetious, just how I interpreteted it. I was pointing out there's a clear difference between different swimming events and beach/indoor volleyball. I don't think the comparison was a good one. That's why I made the different type of water comment. You took it the wrong way.I thought DJ was being facetious, and he was fine with various events that are similar. (If not, he can correct me.)

Dont try to play the innocent victim card. You antagonize more than anyone on here. You made a snarky comment about having different water in swimming and got called out.
Others have clearly laid out the differences in response to you obviously showing your distaste for multiple volleyball events.

I don't think I took it the wrong way if allstar had the same reaction.
There's a clear difference between 100M breast, 100M freestyle, or 200M breast. There's also a clear difference between beach volleyball and indoor volleyball due to amount of players, playing surface, physical talent, and strategy. If you don't like one, then just don't watch it or follow it. No one's forcing you to. I frankly enjoy all of those sports so I'll continue discussing them.

You are going down a dangerous road when you attack the poster and not the post. I try not to make my posts personal, if we all started calling each other out than this just becomes name-calling. I'm not going down to your level I can assure you.Dont try to play the innocent victim card. You antagonize more than anyone on here. No one called anyone any names, get over yourself. Your post got called out like it should have, and not just by me. Carry on.

Yeah by one other person, you make it seem like the whole world turned on me. You very well know you were trying to make me look bad, don't even try to deny it. When you are attacking an internet poster, instead of the post, that's pretty sad.No one called anyone any names, get over yourself. Your post got called out like it should have, and not just by me. Carry on.
