As Dylan Bundy gets ready to take the mound tonight here at Frawley Stadium for his 18th start of the season and 10th with Single-A Frederick, he could experience both a first and a last this evening.

While he will pitch beyond five innings for the first time as a pro, there are also some indications that tonight could be his last start with Frederick before he gets moved to Double-A Bowie.

A few minutes ago, I asked Frederick pitching coach Blaine Beatty if this would be Bundy's last Frederick start tonight.
"There has been some talk (about him moving up)," Beatty said. "We've run it by one another a couple of different times. I spoke to Rick (Peterson, Orioles director of pitching development) yesterday, and my opinion is I'd like to see him stretched out here, get to that sixth or seventh inning here before he goes to the next level."

Didn't know they were finally allowing him to be stretched out. I'm equally excited about seeing that as I am about him potentially moving up to Bowie.

He'll definitely be moving up soon, even if it's not after tonight's start.

Has there been any indication what his new limits are, in terms of innings or pitches per start, if any?

I always heard it was 120-125, not sure if they were going to change that or not. Definitely excited about him being stretched out and/or going to Bowie here soon.

Edit: Thanks for the link Gregg.

New Article, as Mewleski gets Rick Petersen's input.

http://www.masnsport... ... um=twitter

Orioles director of pitching development Rick Peterson said tonight he wants pitching prospect Dylan Bundy to have "a handful" of starts going beyond five innings with Single-A Frederick and then the Orioles are likely to move Bundy to Double-A Bowie for his final few starts of the 2012 season.

Bundy's limit is 125 innings, per this...

The club wants him to pitch around 125 innings for the season and counting the 2 2/3 frames tonight, he is now at 75 between Delmarva and Frederick this year.

I would like to see him get more than just a couple starts at Bowie. There is about what, 6 weeks left in the minors this year? That only leaves him with about 8 more starts. I'm fine with giving him one or two longer starts at Frederick, but don't want him to get 4-5 more before heading to Bowie. I guess in the long run it doesn't make much difference. I just think he'd learn more if he got 4-5 starts at least at Bowie to get a feel for the league and try to make any adjustments which may be necessary.

Bummer that he got rained out tonight. Looks like he was pretty dominant from the box before the rain came. Retired the first 8 hitters (3 on K's) before walking the final guy prior to the rain delay.

50 innings is another 6-10 starts depending of how long they let him to in starts.

I would like to see him get 5 or more starts in AA this year.
