O's have four of the first 91 picks...  27, 54, 69, 91.

Sounds good when you put it that way but it's one extra pick and we traded down in the first round.   IMO, we should have #14, #27, #54, #69, #76 and #91.

And it's not even really an extra pick since we only have it because we didn't sign our 2nd rounder last year.

To use that horrible quote, is what it is at this point.   Figure all four of these picks should be in the Top 12 (at-least) of O's prospects at year end.  Scouting Department needs to hit here.

One of the top prospects apparently failed a drug test.  Doubt he'd slide all the way to #27, but would be cool if he did and we took a risk on a top talent rather than drafting someone who the consensus seems to rank well below where we pick like we always seem to do.

Jordan Sheffield, and Cal Quantrill have interesting profiles. Both getting past injuries.. would have had the chance to go higher without those concerns.

Would imagine Jeremy is a Sheffield fan.

I am. Not that I've followed things too closely, but the pedigree and Vandy resume do a little something for me.

If he used PED's to get to be the #5 guy then it's questionable what his true talent level is.    I'd take a pass, but you could be right as far as getting good value, talent wise, at #27.   I would not be surprised if he dropped that far either.

Joe Rizzo is all bat and not much else.   I don't pop him with #27.  If he's around at #54 or #69, maybe then.  It's hit or miss at #27 anyway but I'd rather take the hit or miss on a high end offensive talent like Will Benson who most project to be there at #27.  Not crazy about Buddy Reed at #27 either.  I like guys who have power potential.

Because of his ceiling I'd love to see Sheffield fall to the Orioles, but I don't know if their track record with injuries and pitching prospects makes them fit for that type of selection. That's why I lean towards Eric Lauer. His pure stuff might not be as good, but I think he's polished enough to get through the system.

If #Orioles draft outfielders tonight - keep an eye on OF Buddy Reed. Currently a Florida Gator but from Finksburg, MD.
