Anyone know what day/time the fireworks are?

Is the city expecting a large turnout?

I would expect driving downtown and around Ft. McHenry will be a nightmare, but that's just an educated guess.  When is the celebration?

Weather was dicey during the day which kept me from heading down but I'm glad it cleared up for the air show and fireworks. The Blue Angels put on a show Friday during the early game.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Lots of people were saying that was the best fireworks display they've seen, and I would agree. It's also cool seeing the ships at the harbor.

Even on TV it was impressive fireworks. Plus I got to see a pretty good Joe Biden speech, and my dad try to stay composed during a Joe Biden speech :D

The biggest issue was that every living organism within the Local Group was down at the harbor today. I've seen in crowded before, and I've never been during, say, July 4 or New Year's when I know it's packed, but I cannot remember seeing it where you literally couldn't walk on the promenade. Plus most of the ships had lines hundreds of people long. That was insane.

When I first joined, right out of boot camp, we did this ridiculous thing: http://www.opsail.or...events-2000.php

The lines for tours of our shitty boat were often over 3 hours.  We'd take them through the mess deck, to the big gun on the front of the ship that never worked, back through the boat to the flight deck.  Hey, look at this shitty helo!

I would imagine it was similar.  A bonafide zoo.

How hard is it to make a gun work?  (This is a real question...)

Its the guidance system that stabilizes and aims it.  Its a giant hubble telescope looking thing.

I'm not a guy who has anything to do with that kinda stuff, so that's about as much as I can say.

You can see it on the front of this one.  http://www.dvorsons....tchen/COAST.jpg

Edit:  The gun itself is older than me, and rarely used, so that doesn't help either.

Does the CG ever shoot at anybody?

Yea, usually warning shots to drug runners.  Those boats go 65+ so its better to let them know you mean bidniz immediately.  The cutter I'm on now was built with homeland security nonsense in mind so its got a lot more warship type things than the normal stuff.

Glad to know we're safe from the Al Qaeda Navy....
