Much to Ricker's delight ;-) here is a quick list of my 10 most favorite albums of the 70s.  I was a tad bored at work today with court cancelled so it's likely I'm missing a few that would normally make the list...

1) Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
2) Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town
3) Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
4) Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
5) Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
6) Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
7) The Who - Who's Next
8) The Clash - London Calling
9) Van Morrison - Moondance
10) Led Zeppelin - Untitled (IV)

LOL - I'm an ass - I love these threads in truth.

The Dylan, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, The Who & Led Zeppelin albums I love... the other's... I have some work to do. After Gold Rush would be top 2 or 3 for me though. Probably Dark Side would be #1 for me.

Nice job showing some love for Van Morrison, one of my favorties!

"His Band and the Street Choir" is another absolute gem of his from 1970..

Not much of a Pink Floyd guy myself, but a great list.

"American Beauty" by the Dead would be my #1, followed by "Rumours", and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road".

Never been a big Dead/Jam Band guy (although I do love Allman Bros. at Fillmore East).

"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" would have certainly made a top 20 list -- likely top 15, so would "Harvest" by Neil Young.

I need to check out the other Van Morrison stuff more in depth, I'm not all that familiar with his entire catalog...

The 70s was the best decade in my opinion music wise..Forgot about Steely Dan also, one of my favorites as well.

Yea, I'd highly recommend "His Band and the Street Choir", "Astral Weeks", and "Tupelo Honey" ASAP if you want to hear more Van.

I've tried to get into Bruce Springsteen a couple times, although I didn't try very hard, and he just didn't do anything for me.

I go through phases with Bruce, and really for me it's the lyrics, every song tells a story. He's a pretty brilliant storyteller.

Half of the time I'm listening to music, I pay no mind at all to the lyrics... I guess I need to check him out again when I'm in the mood to dissect and really listen better.

With Bruce, for sure. Dylan too.

Yeah, I love Dylan. I just discovered that "Make You Feel My Love" is probably my favorite love song ever.

I actually play piano, and while not a good singer, can still sing the hell out of Bob Dylan... so maybe. But only if you promise not to sing it to Jeter in turn!

With Bruce it's all about the lyrics/the story/the emotion.  It's music that makes you think...

Compare the lyrics to, say, "Badlands" to "Darkness on the Edge of Town" -- two great songs, off the same album, one is the opening track, the other, the closer.  Compare the tone, the emotion.

Just realized I left "Sticky Fingers" off the list.  Inexcusable.  Likely would be around #6 or #7.

Zeppelin would be more represented on my list, but definitely some good music, especially Dylan, Young, and Pink Floyd.

Yes, I remember our "The Who vs. Zeppelin" thread.

Well, Zeppelin is now no longer on my list, as leaving "Sticky Fingers" off is beyond criminal which would push Zeppelin's only album out of the top 10.

Anywho, listening to Rumours right now just for old time's sake... what an amazing album.

Damn you Pedro and your music threads! ;)

Can't stop listening to Rumours. What a great, great album. Of course, my current level of sappiness could have something to do with that too.

You're just so damn cute, Ricker.

Congrats man, hope everything works out perfect, you deserve it bro.

Oh, and Rumours is absolutely awesome.
