In their last year as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Terps will head to Columbus representing the ACC in the annual conference challenge vs. the Big Ten.

Ohio State is currently ranked #7 overall, and is 6-0 on the season.

OSU Season results:
vs. Morgan State: 89-50
vs. Ohio: 79-69
@ Marquette: 52-35
vs. American: 63-52
vs. Wyoming: 65-50
vs. North Florida: 99-64

OSU Season stats:
Points Per Game: 74.5 173rd
Rebounds Per Game: 38.3 110th

Assists Per Game: 13.5 134th
Field Goal Pct: .462 118th
Scoring Defense: 51.5 3rd
FT%: 67.5%  210th
Turnover Margin: 5.8  20th

The Buckeyes are coming off a 29-8 season in which they tied for second in the Big Ten with a 13-5 record.

Ohio State returns four starters:
Amir Williams: 6'11, 250 lbs, Jr, Center - 11.3 ppg, 8.3 boards, 2 blocks
Aaron Craft: 6'2, Sr, Guard - 11.3 ppg, 5.3 assists, 74% from the line, 47% from the floor
Lenzelle Smith, Jr.: 6'4, Sr. Guard - 11.3 ppg, 4.8 boards, 48% from 3 (4.8 attempts per)
&
Sam Thompson: 6'7, 200 lbs, Jr. Forward - 8.2 ppg, 3.7 boards

Others of note:
LaQuinton Ross: 6'8, 220 lbs, Jr. Wing Forward - 8.0ppg, 5.0 boards, 32% from 3 (4.2 attempts per)
Shannon Scott: 6'1, Jr. Guard - 11.0 ppg, 4.5 boards, 52.2 FG%, 40% from 3 (3.3 attempts per)
Kam Williams: 6'2, Frosh, Guard - Baltimore Native, Mt. St. Joe, 4 star prospect, has mono
Marc Loving: 6'7, Frosh, Forward - 4 star prospect, Parade All-American
Della-Valle: 6'5, Soph, Guard - MVP of 2013 U20 Euro Championship

After their win vs. Morgan State Ross was quoted as saying, "We've been working on rebounding a lot in practices, just because our team is really not that big. You see we've got one 6-10 guy (Williams) and the rest of our guys are perimeter players. We've definitely been working on everybody pitching in and getting rebounds."

Maryland has enough talent to have a chance vs. anyone on a given night.

I like the Terps chances to push OSU.  I would think that being on the road for the first time, combined with MD's poor foul shooting, and PG issues will probably preclude MD from completing the upset though.

OTOH, OSU doesn't look like a team that will overwhelm MD in the post. They have their own FT shooting issues, and are a guard/wing oriented team like the Terps.

Looking at their games this year, my guess is OSU has basically been bored aside from their opener vs. Morgan State, and the trip to Marquette. They are not putting up a ton of points, but their defense has factored in each game.

Some of the individual match-ups are going to be interesting. I'm expecting Dodd to get some minutes vs. Williams.

I'm guessing Ross and Layman?  I'm hoping Faust gets the assignment vs. Smith Jr.

I'd also like to see the Freshman Peters get some time vs. the experienced Craft.

I'm gonna have to DVR this game...annoying.  Hopefully I can avoid hearing updates or a final score before I get a chance to start watching.

Big test tonight against a national power in Ohio State. Guardplay will favor the team but I agree that Layman is the "X" factor. He needs to shoot the ball well while Wells and Faust must make sound decisions with the basketball. Dodd will need to see minutes tonight to help spell Mitchell and Cleare.

It's doable but it certainly won't be easy.

F Comcast!  On Demand wasn't working last night so I power cycled it.  The guide and menu didn't come back up before I went to bed, and still wasn't there this morning so I couldn't get my DVR set for the game.

If it makes you feel any better, I have to DVR this game as well. I work until 9:00 tonight. Luckily, I don't work with any Terps fans (just a VATech fan, boy that was fun a few weeks ago).

If it REALLY makes him feel better, I'm going to miss the game and don't have DVR.  I'll be able to pick up the game on the radio around 8:30 or so, wondering if I'm going to be able to resist the temptation to check the score, bc I could probably watch the replay on watchESPN later tonight.

I'll be watching, in my living room, at 7.  Probably with a plate of chicken wings.  Problem is, there's no good places around here to get chicken wings.

They'll probably hang in the 10-15 point deficit for much of the game. Make some kind of push but never really threaten. I expect to get torn up around the basket with our lack of a rim protector.

Comcast is horrendous. Anywho, you're probably fortunate in this instance as I don't think things will go too well tonight. We'll need to play over our heads most of the night to win. Given we've struggled to even play up to our talent level, I just don't see it happening. I'd be happy if it's close late. I'm open to being surprsed.

BNick, the biggest challenge tonight is OSU's guards, which I think we can hold our own against. Fortunately, their inside game isn't their strength. That gives me some hope. We'll see.

Also, regardless of who wins this game, isn't it a win for the B1G? ;)

Not necessarily bigs inside, but also attacking the rim off the dribble. I'll be the first to tell you I haven't seen OSU play this year so I don't know how they play and like to score. I just know from watching our games that we can be scored on in the paint.

We could certainly make a team with mediocre bigs look good inside, that's for sure.

I think this team will be up for this game. We beat Villanova, who is now ranked #17 in a scrimmage (Was Allen still healthy at that point?), and we nearly beat UConn who is proving to be one of the better teams in the country.

Yes, I think Allen was available for that scrimmage vs. Nova.
