Kinda surprised not to see a thread for The Walking Dead on this forum. I mean, it's only the hottest show on cable. ;)

Did I miss it?

Nah, pretty much all the TV talk is lumped into one TV thread. Don't have enough discussion to really warrant separate threads for each show.

I had a feeling. Still, given it's popularity (and the fact Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, etc.) have their own threads, I figured I'd start one for The Walking Dead.

It's gotta be the Governor sneaking in though the fence and feeding the walkers the rats, no?

It's a good show. I don't think it's quite deserving of all of the adulation it receives.

I thought it was gonna be the little girl. Of course, I also thought it was the little girl who killed those 2 people rather than Carol.

This is a point my better half also shouts at the tv a fair amount.

Of course I'm always yelling at them to dig a big moat/pit around the prison.

Good show, redundant, moody characters, not enough REAL suspense from a zombie show, overall a satisfying hour of TV on most nights.

The EP turnover probably hasn't helped but I think they've been lucky to have not had much drop off after so much creative turnover. I guess having been based on graphic novels helps.

I enjoy the show, but agree it's got it's flaws.  But I love zombies so I'll keep watching.  Even if the characters do stupid things and the show kind of drags, it's still a TV show about a zombie apocalypse.  And the "everyone is a carrier" thing is kind of a cool twist on the zombie ethos that you don't see very often.

I wish it was a serialized version of World War Z (the book), but I'm content with what it is.  If they kill Daryl though, I'm done.  Even if it's Norman Reedus deciding to leave the show.  Unless they just continue to populate the cast with ex-Wire actors.

Agreed. Reedus us the best thing about the show.

Also, I enjoyed last weeks Governor-only episode.  It almost seemed to make him a sympathetic character again, until you remember the episode before where he was crouched outside the prison walls scheming.  Oh, plus the whole going crazy and offing a fair amount of Woodbury, too.

Though, did Phillip (or is it Brian now) and that woman actually just get it on with not 1, but 2 people asleep right there beside 'em?

They are definitely trying to rehabilitate the Governor character into at least a villain that we somewhat understand, rather than just an anonymously evil character behind a mask.  It'll be tough because they ruined him at the end of last season, but an antagonist who's motivation makes sense would make the show go a long way.  Not that the viewers would ever be rooting for the other guys, but to at least acknowledge the reason they are fighting as being justifiable without just being pure evil would make for a much better story.

Guess they were just showing us how the governor got to the prison rather than trying to make people be sympathetic towards him.

Next weeks episode looks good.

Last night's episode must have been sponsored by Ford.   Every single vehicle I saw (besides the really really big one) was a Ford.

I just bought an Explorer, so I'm noticing these things ;)

Haha that's all you've got to say about that episode?

What a crazy mid season finale. I will say, for whatever this show lacks, it sure does make up for it with shocking deaths.

So...do you think that's the last we've seen of the Governor?

Yeah he's toast. That's (ballpark) how that storyline wraps up in the comics too. Now it's a fresh start.

Although part of me is still curious if they actually went there with Judith. I really didn't think they would, then again I super cringed and had to FF at the Megan part too. (probably just cause I have 2 little girls though)

I think they should have made the Gov's death worse. He just decapitates Hershall and all he gets is stuck through the chest? And then grazed on the cheek by that wobbly gun? Lol. I wanted to see him pulled apart by zombies.

Just caught up on the mid season finale last night.  Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty (in my best Larry David) good.

Of course my one question would be, how did absolutely no one at the prison not hear a freaking tank roll up right outside?  I mean did this tank have one of those super-quiet, Prius engines?

As for the Gov's death, I actually kinda like that it was unfulfilling.  One thing I like about the show is that they don't always stick to the cliched, Hollywood script, where the ultimate bad guy has go to out in some super-blaze-of-glory where he gets his serious comeuppance.  Afterwards on the Talking Dead, Kirkman kinda hinted at the same thing and referenced in the comics how the Gov's death left the reader unsatisfied.  Again, I kinda like it.  It goes against the mold.  That said, I so wanted to see Michonne lop his head off.

Loved, loved, Lizzie just going straight gangsta on those 2 people about to finish off Tyreese.  I actually cheered for that one.  Plus, Carol is still out there and I don't think we've seen the last of her.

And now we gotta wait until February 9th?  Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
