Made his 2nd start of the year tonight for Norfolk:
6 ip, 6 hits, 2 er, 1 bb, 7 k's

Now for the year: 11 ip, 9 hits, 3 er, 2 bb's, 12 k's

He should be an option for the O's bullpen at some point this year.

Johnson left after the 2nd inning tonight, with a strained groin.

Really interesting look by Steve Melewski at the contract situation of Steve Johnson currently at Norfolk:

http://www.masnsport..._medium=twitter

Should the birds put him on the 40-man to keep him in the organization?

So, would you add him? If so, who would have him replace on the 40 man?

A. damn you Sports Guy. Beat me by 3 minutes.
B. Of course I post in the wrong forum.
C. guys I'd consider taking off the 40-man...

Ryan Adams, Endy Chavez, Dylan Bundy (just kidding), Joe Mahoney.

They only had 39 before putting Gonzalez on it.

I'd dump Adams for him.

I'm surprised they didn't bring him up in Gonzalez's stead (though in Miguel's case it becomes a hell of a 28th birthday present).

Think maybe they asked him if he planned on opting out and he told them no?

This is possible. He does have family ties to the organization

My guess is all things being equal, Ryan Adams is the next guy off... they've gotten rid of Matt Angle, Blake Davis(off the 40 man), Kyle Hudson, seems like he was the last of that bunch. Endy I don't think goes until Markakis is back atleast.

So have they announced if Johnson is going to start and if so, when?

Or will it be Gonzalez?

Johnson's O's debut came in the 8th inning today. After walking 2 batters, Johnson was able to get the next 3 guys out, 2 on strikeouts.

Was at the game yesterday, very cool moment. Crowd gave Johnson a nice applause whenever he came in and it was announced it was his major league debut, and then again whenever he came off after the inning. Good stuff.
