Hey, guys! I am going to Baltimore for the second time ever on Thursday. (I went last year to go to a Ravens game in September.)

I plan to go with my family (Mom, Step-Dad, Friend) on Thursday, then we are coming back on Sunday. I was wondering what fun things to do are in Baltimore. Here is what we are already doing:

  • Going to an Orioles game (Friday)
  • Edgar Allan Poe's Gravesite
  • Jimmy's Famous Seafood

That's all we really have right now. We also want to go to Poor Boy's Sports.

Can you guys help me with things to do? Things like:

  • Places to Eat
  • Places to Shop
  • Sites to See
  • Anything Ravens/O's related
  • Anything else!

We are trying to plan a full trip, where there is never a dull moment.

Thanks, everybody!

Three places my fiance and I take anyone to eat when we have friends in town. Nacho Mamas in Canton square. Excellent Mexican food, proudly serve Natty Boh and a lot of old Baltimore nostalgia on the walls. Mamas on the Halfshell is next door. Great for seafood and they have big portions which I appreciate since seafood is pricier. Pub Dog in Federal Hill. Serves up their own microbrews which most are quite good and their menu is full of individual size pizzas. Pizza and beer. Love it.

If you're not leaving too early sunday get brunch anywhere in Fells Point. Koopers, Silantes, Waterfront hotel. You can't go wrong.

Shopping? I don't know. Sorry. The inner harbor has some places but I don't think its anything you can't find anywhere else.

Sites to see. Sounds like your a sports fan, Babe Ruth museum and sports legends museum. Sports legends is next to the eutaw st entrance to the yard. Babe Ruth only about 3 blocks away. Double check, you may be able to buy admission to one and get the other free. They do stadium tours of Oriole Park as well.

Do you need a hotel? If so, I suggest staying at one of these 5 spots.

That puts you in Harbor East.  Better restaurants, shopping etc in Harbor East vs. the Inner Harbor. Also like that you can find restaurants from good lunch spots to the extremely high end.

Mike had good recommendations of the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Sports Legends,  along with OPACY tours.

Locals often forget about it, but The National Aquarium is always an attraction for visitors.

I'm sure there are other things we are overlooking, so be sure to check out The Baltimore Visitor Center, which has lots of great information.

Mike recommended Nacho Mama's in Canton, and mentioned that next door is Mama's on the Half Shell. That is my go-to place if you have visitors and want to give them lunch taste of local seafood.

If you want crabs, I'd try Bo Brooks.

Lots of great bars to recommend to you in a couple of years!

If your Mom and Step-Dad want a high-end place for dinner for just them:

Charleston
Cinghiale

Very nice places where you and your friend would also be comfortable:

PAZO
Talara

Good Mexican spot:
Miguels

There are lots of great brunch spots at bars all over the place...since you are younger, I'd recommend:
Miss Shirley's

Don't miss Fort McHenry. We're in the middle of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, which the fort played a huge part in.

Wandering around Fells Point is always a good way to spend 2 hours.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Agree with everything said above. I'm sure you'll enjoy just walking around the Inner Harbor. Make sure you go to Federal Hill; great view of the city. The aquarium is pretty expensive (last I heard $25 per person), but it's still great.

If you like Italian food, Little Italy is a block or two away from the Inner Harbor. A not-at-all-shameless plug for Sabatino's on Fawn Street.

This is definitely my favorite spot in Little Italy.

Hampden is a bit out of the way, but the Avenue (36th street) has some quirky, weird shops - some people swear by shopping around there. Lots of vintage stuff, Baltimore memorabilia, etc. It's pretty out there. Lots of hipsters.  If you happen to make your way up there, there are some good spots to eat, too. Golden West has good food, and is my favorite spot to get brunch around there. Old Bay Bloody Mary's. Try Woodberry Kitchen if you're looking for something fancy.

If it's your sort of thing at all, the Baltimore Aquarium is one of the better ones around.  It also puts you pretty close to Harbor East and then Fells Point and Canton if you're traveling East, you could head out that way one day.

Each area of town has their own little charm to it.  Federal Hill will be the closest to downtown, definitely walk around to a few different bars and restaurants there.  Cross St market is pretty cool, down at the end near the seafood places is a great place to watch an O's game.

Mike had a bunch of great suggestions, all are good.  I'd say that my favorite brunch in the city is at Fork & Wrench in Canton on Boston Street.  Definitely try to get there one day.  Also, if you're out late at night, Blue Moon Cafe in Fells Point is amazing and open 24-hours.  It'll take you hours to get a table if you go there in the morning on a weekend, but you may have better luck on Friday morning.  They have Captain Crunch French Toast.

If you're looking for a quicker bite rather than a full restaurant Samos in Greektown is fantastic Greek food.  Everything there is good.  DiPasquale's just north of Canton (Gough St) is a fantastic Italian sandwich shop (Trinacria downtown near Lexington Market is also a really good one if you're staying near downtown).  Get the Porketta sandwich.  Chap's Pit Beef is the best pit beef in the city.  It's a shack in the parking lot of a strip club, though, and a bit far from anything else.

For restaurants, Brewer's Art in Mount Vernon is awesome, Annabelle Lee in Canton is really good.  There are a ton of great places to eat in Mount Vernon and Hamden, more of them and more consistently better restaurants IMO than Canton or Fells or Fed, though typically more expensive.

There are a lot of Farmer's markets in the area as well.  The huge one Sunday underneath 83 is really great, but there is one in Fells Point on Saturday morning's as well.  Kind of cool to walk around, and you can buy sandwiches or coffee or breakfast stuff, not just selling raw produce.

Shopping's not really my thing, but you could take a walk through Fells Point along Aliceanna, lots of small shops in the area.  Harbor East has lots of shops too, but I think they are more expensive.

Not sure what the family passes are there but my family (I got three siblings) whenever we went on vacation would always buy them because it was more economical to do so. So we would always get things in the mail from museums in San Francisco, Boston, New York.

I'll also put in a personal recommendation for Mama's on the Half Shell.

There's some good art museums if you guys have any interest. The Walters Art Museum and I believe the Baltimore Museum of Art are free. While not free, the American Visionary Art Museum is really cool and unique.

The aquarium is one of the 5 best in the country so I'll also recommend that as well as Fort McHenry.

I fear for my life since I work right across the street from it. I eat there way too often.

Oh, lord.

I love doing tours Otakon weekend, because of all of the weird cosplay you see walking in the area around the convention center (especially, um, certain ones).

This one...probably not so much.

It was amazing! The greatest thing ever might be Federal Hill at night!
