Anyone else a fan?

I've been drinking Grangestone (18 year) recently. It's a decent Single Malt Highland. Fairly balanced with spices and oak flavors. Nothing terrific though.

That's definitely my style when it comes to scotch. Anyone have any recommendations?

Prefer bourbon. I've still got about half of my Pappy Van Winkle 23 year old. It's fantastic.

I've really been enjoying the above cocktail which is mostly bourbon and scotch. The hardest thing to find is chocolate bitters but amazon has it for 9 bucks. Highly recommend, and I'd also recommend getting an ice cube tray that makes the big block ice cubes for cocktails.

I prefer TGI Friday's  caramel colored rubbing alcohol.

Sounds very interesting, will certainly have to consider.

I was looking for some red wine vinegar the other day in my cabinet and I found some Jameson's! Then I found the vinegar! That was a great day.

I killed that Jameson's tonight. Didn't touch the vinegar.

I am sitting in Heathrow waiting to fly to Edinburgh. You can count on me to participate in this thread.

Did the scotch whiskey experience in Edinburgh today. Pretty cool. Learned about the different regions and how they differentiate from one another. I'm adopting Glenkinchie as my scotch of choice since its closest to Edinburgh and the lowland region isn't well known for their scotch. It's pretty good, too.

Enjoying the Don Lockwood for the afternoon game. Laphroaig and Knob Creek Rye. Perfect drink with the impending crap weather. Also, feel free to judge me for afternoon drinking.

Lately (b/c it's being sold on the cheap at the Costco) I've been drinking a fair amount of Bulleit Rye Whiskey.  Just a splash of water mixed in and it's pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Yes, I'm drinking some now.

Lemme get two claps and a Ric Flair

Had a nice Macallan 10 year today, but that's Scotch. You ever try Four Roses Bourbon? It recently had two of it's small batch editions rated top in the top five by Whisky Advocate. It's really good stuff. I had some of the regular stuff at the restaurant my wife manages here in L.A. and still enjoyed it.

She's going to have their buyer get me some at cost so I can enjoy it with the cigars I got for my birthday.

Ok, finally tried the Blanton's last night after the Lakers game. Full disclosure: at that point I had already begun with two doubles of Bulleit prior to watching that horror show in Staples Center. We went to The Palm after to ponder next years draft pick and I had my usual FR SB when I spotted what looked like an unfamiliar bottle next to my preferred spirit. I asked the gent tending bar and he informed me that it was indeed the previously mentioned Blanton's. He generously gave me a taste. It was smooth, very smooth. I'll have to start the evening there next time with a double of that. Now, off to find the elusive Breckenridge.

Eh, Lakers, seriously?

Blantons has the distinct bottle no doubt. You'll notice it's everywhere now. Great stuff.

Had a whiskey from a new distillery in Ireland, Glendalough. It was quite tasty, apparently they also make a 7 and 13 year single malt.

Anyone ever tried aging your own bourbon?

Kicking around the idea of these little 1L oak barrels as groomsmen gifts, was wondering how well it works.  Not sure if I'd fill them ahead of time or just give them empty for people to make their own.  Probably should fill them, I suppose.
