Led Zeppelin or The Who

Still it's hard to debate the greatness of both bands -- but which is better? As recently as 5 years ago I'd have said Zeppelin not close. But, the more I listen to the Who the closer the bands are. I'll still take Zeppelin because I think their upper echelon stuff is better than The Who's, but I'm fairly certain that I think the Who is more consistently good top to bottom in the two band's respective entire catalogues.
What say you?

In other news, Robert Plant and his son took a brewery tour at Dogfish a few days ago. I wish I had happened to be there too.
Zeppelin is on Letterman tonight for anyone who cares.

Won't claim to be able to speak with much detail on either band.

Would probably say that Led Zeppelin is the better band, but I personally slightly prefer The Who.
Probably the two best drummers of the era. Tough to choose between Bonham or Moon. Page over Townsend, but Daltrey over Plant, IMO. I feel like The Who took more advantage of Entwistle than Zeppelin did of Jones, both are great, though.
I've listened to more of The Who's full albums. With Zeppelin, I've done more singles than listening through their entire albums. Maybe that would change my opinion a bit if my experience with each were reversed. I've also gotten to see The Who (well, Daltrey & Townsend) live, which was awesome.

Zeppelin doesn't have a killer live album like Live at Leeds, but I think I still take Zeppelins overall catalog.

Over the last several years my appreciation for The Who has gone up while my appreciation for Zeppelin has gone down.

How the West was Won is very good imo. Maybe not killer, though.

Zeppelin has fallen from my favorite band to my 2nd favorite. So clearly I have lost appreciation for them too.
All this being said, I still think "The Rain Song" is probably the greatest song ever recorded by humans.

Not even in my top 10 Zep songs, but it's great.

Nice to see "Ten Years Gone" getting love on both of our lists. Not one of the songs you ever hear about. Cheers.

Good to see In the Light on your list too. That one would probably fall somewhere in my #6-10. Another underrated one. Physical Graffiti is definitely on my deserted island list.
