Round 2 - Pick 41

Second Base - East Carolina

Another good hitter with gap to gap power and likely high exit velocities a la Jordan Westburg last year.

Think I heard the MLB.com guy say he led the nation in hits. I expected it to be an up the middle college player though Im curious if there was any interest in Fabian. Not sure how far underslot he'll end up being.

Keith Law

2021 MLB Draft Big Board: Keith Law ranks the Top 100 draft prospects – The Athletic

25. Connor Norby, 2B, East Carolina
Previously No. 49

Norby has performed his way into Day 1 status, hitting .415/.475/.688 this spring for the Pirates with newfound pop, although he’s limited to second base by a fringy arm. He really helped himself with a solid showing against Vanderbilt in the super regionals, hitting the best pitching he’d faced all year, with good at bats and a couple of knocks against Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker. He has a compact swing and uses the whole field well, with wrist strength to drive the ball the other way. Norby is a second baseman and projects to stay there, and his bat should make him at least a regular at that spot, even if he doesn’t come into much power.

Doesn't seem like much of an under slot guy. Seems like he was taken exactly where he should have been.

Yeah my bad, only looked at MLB’s ranking until after I posted. Seems like a helium guy.

The Orioles announce second-round infielder Connor Norby as their first signee. Per a source, he signed for $1.7 million. Slot was $1.81 for that pick.

The good thing about drafting all hitters is you get to see everybody right away.  No protecting the arms!

Imagine being an Angels fan. Draft only pitchers, and the org doesn’t let pitchers pitch the year they’re drafted.

Promoted to AAA.

I guess aimed at getting him more at bats.  He has certainly earned it.
