I tried to predict the opening day roster for each of the four full season minor league teams. Let me know what I got wrong and which teams you’re most excited about.

Good stuff. The AAA rotation will be fun to follow, because of the arms it should feature early in the season and the pitchers that could be promoted there after a few months. I'm also curious to follow the middle infielders in AA, mainly to see how Adam Hall looks after a year off and whether the Orioles can tap into Greg Cullen's power potential.

Feel like I'd have to give the AA roster a 10/10 for watchability, Adley/Grayson/Hall and the rest of the roster being a JV baseball team would still feel like it's worth following for me

Totally fair. But I can envision days when you get none of the three, especially if/when Adley is promoted. But him catching the top two of the rotation is stuff dreams are made of haha.

Thanks Zach!

There really is no dud in the bunch, definitely something to look out for on each team. Gonna be fun.

Good job Bob.  Interesting stuff.

I'll add player comments individually.

Austin Wynns:  ...so we're in a box that I don't think exists (yet).  COTs is showing him out of options and he's currently on the 40, which means he's on the 26, which means he's not at AAA.

That can certainly change if the waive him and pull him off the 40, but he's probably on the 40 for a reason (clearly not age, projection or statistical performance) that we may not understand yet.

If the 40 remains the same through the arbitration process, then Sisco, who does apparently have an option, would be more likely (ML roster rulz) the odd man out at AAA.

Servideo versus Westburg.

I have zero information.  I like both guys better than the MI types selected in 2019.

Servideo would seem to have the better SS profile for helping the system (playing defense, improving pitching outlook) while maybe a lesser profile than a guy like Westburg who could have a bigger future role on the ML club.

I know everyone wants everyone to develop as a SS, but you're showing in this allocation why that doesn't really work.

If they're leaving Henderson at SS (that's interesting) and Mayo can project at 3B (that's interesting), then Westburg would best fit at 2B long-term.

It's hard to break into the 'top10 SS prospects' given the quality and projection of that group, but take a guy like Westburg (and if he develops offensively like you hope) then he could find his way into a 'top 10 2B' list sooner than later.

I'd leave Servideo preceding Henderson in the system and letting him work with Westburg at 2B until you let Henderson jump Servideo to compile with Henderson and Mayo at AAA.

If you align the 'best future infield' with guys currently in the system, I'd be 2b-Westburg, SS-Henderson, 3B-Mayo until they prove they aren't those guys.

If Mayo needs to move across to 1B and Henderson to 3B, then Servideo is probably the best projection for SS (defense heavy) in the existing group....so you'd still be best aligned to take advantage of that.

I don't know how you can project anybody unless they were a very high pick who have had success at low levels or a lower picked guy who has reached Bowie.

You might have to pick who gets the most time where (level and position), but you don't have to start even thinking about arranging them in Baltimore's infield yet.

Great work Bob, and not an easy task given the influx in personnel.

Can't wait for minor league baseball to return.

Nice work as always Bob.  Hopefully we get to see AAA and AA.  I am anxious to see how the rotations develop.  That is the key to us getting out of the basement of baseball and back to relevancy.

Good point. Maybe Cumberland could’ve been placed at C and one of McCoy/Wilkerson at DH.

I see no chance that Wynns is claimed on waivers. His 40-man/option status is irrelevant. The team can put him wherever they want unless he's got some contractual clause allowing him free agency, which I highly doubt.

Not worth worrying about with Wynn.  If he gets lost to another organization it will not matter

While I agree with both of you, that's not what has happened so far.  He's certainly less relevant than just about anyone on the roster right now and I can't imagine that he'd be claimed as a 30-year old with a .700 MiL OPS and a .610 ML OPS, but they've still bothered to burn a spot on him for whatever their reasons are.

If they waived him off the 40 and he cleared waivers, he'd be a 6 year minor league FA, correct?  They could certainly sign him to a MiL contract to be at AAA, but again, they haven't gone through that yet.  If that was their plan, they could certainly already have done it.

My point is that the current conditions wouldn't put him at AAA today.

If those specific conditions change, it's no longer the Orioles vote.

Add Stallings to the High A rotation, Ryan Wilson to the bullpen/swing man role.

Pinto should see time at Low A at some point in 2021 but I wouldn’t imagine to start the year.

I think the reason is two fold.  Depth, primarily but I think the fact that Pedro did not have a good year behind the plate and Sisco, IMO is poor defensively keeps Wynn, who is better with the glove on the 40.

OK. The point is that if Wynns is on the 40 (he is) and he's out of options (he is), he's not at AAA.  Period.

Given the other things that have happened (Iglesias, Nunez, Alberto), I'd guess they have deal(s) lined up for Severino (also out of options) which would explain why they've left Wynns on the 40 (because they need 2 catchers).

Because both Severino and Wynns are out of options, unless you are carrying 3 catchers on the ML club, Sisco would be the odd man out and be at AAA (this thread).

I don't really see a reason to manage Sisco like that (at AAA) so my guess would be that they're moving Severino and Sisco and Wynns will be the ML catchers for now.

I would like to acknowledge that Wynns is now off the 40.

I would also like to apologize to him and his family for costing them money.
