Ravens blew them out. But they definitely left some major concerns. Hunt and Chubb gashed them a few times. And they had trouble getting pressure at times. A better QB would have hit us up on some of those picked up blitzes.
I think some of this is in part due to it being the first live game. Not many teams have Chubb and Hunt, plus the Browns O-line is actually very, very good. But other than that, no complaints.
Lamar the passer was on full display. Kid can spin it with anyone.

Agreed, I want to go back and watch the battles up front. The Browns have talent on both lines. Was it them being good or the Ravens being bad.
Taht being said, gap assignments on run defense looked much improved in the second half.

I just rewatched the first half broadcast, you can't see a lot of the formations, so I want to see All-22. But Brandon Williams was pushed around like a rag doll. Rarely getting push. Cleveland did good a job just running to the side of the formation where they had the same number of blocks as the Ravens had defenders. And Ravens didn't play gap technique well.

Also, the big cutback run, Cambpell thought he was coming off the field, got all the way out to the CB position, realized he needed to back in. Runs all the way back in, doesn't get set, over pursues to the strong side and that left the hole. That run was pure miscommunication. That one, I'm willing to chalk up to early year rotations and getting the kinks out.

For the record, that was the Chubb 29 yard run. So that's still 4.6 YPC on all of the other 22 runs for Chubb/Hunt. I still want to see more improvement from Baltimore in the run game on defense.

Yeah, Baker just isn't very good. Had time. Missed numerous throws.

He's terrible.

He was making a lot of those throws in '18 too. Wonder if it's confidence or someone in that organization has messed with his mechanics. Maybe he's just super lazy too.
It blows my mind how he could be so dead accurate in college all over the field. And in the NFL he can't hit an open WR with 6 seconds to throw the ball.

I think the Cleveland running game can be phenomenonal if they stopped trying to prove Mayfield was a star QB when he's not even close. Hunt and Chubb with that O-line should dominate games. Hopefully Stefanski doesn't figure it out.
I was thinking the same thing, especially early in the game. They should take several pages out of the Ravens playbook and just pound the ball. Let Chubb and Hunt wear defenses down. But they're the Browns so you know they'll continue to have Mayfield throw the ball all over the field. Especially with Beckham and Landry as receivers. Going forward, teams will just load the box and force Mayfield to beat them.

If I'm running that team, I'm trading OBJ for whatever I can get. And then we're pounding the rock 40+ times a game and making teams stop my two top 10 RBs.
Makes sense. They have a solid OL too which should give them even more incentive.

Very pleased with game 1. I just watched it the second time. I felt like we went vanilla as we should have, most of the second half. For a guy who can’t pass, Lamar dropped some serious dimes today. Damn the man is good.

I thought the Ravens made some real adjustments after the first Q sand made Mayfield try to beat him. He is not that good, so he was not up to the task.

I was really glad to see Hollywood get off to a good start, the main (only?) positive from the Titans loss was how good he looked

It's also the Cleveland effect. Third NFL season and third head coach (technically fourth if temporary Greg Williams is counted). Great way to develop a franchise QB.
